October 16 I Have Left the Building!...For NowYeap, it's offical, I'm on hiatus...
This site has been around for nearly 3 years, and it'll always have a special place in my heart. I discovered my love for reviewing, I enjoyed expressing myself and I've had some lovely comments from friends & random strangers alike. But after a while I realise that MSN Spaces no longer caters for my needs; it's slow, has word limitations, you cannot ban rude people who spam/threaten you, and well...there's just simply better alternatives.
However; since this space means much to me, I've decided to keep it and I hope to return one day. Whether I'll be back on form or just to randomly post thoughts. I also plan to re-publish my old reviews to improve on them (mostly spelling mistakes!) in the near future.
If you wish to continue to read my thoughts, reviews and anything I have to say; please go to my livejournal; www.lilithdarkstorm.livejournal.com
In the mean time feel free to browse through my old entries, I hope you find something useful, you can also check out my other links on the left hand side under the profile photo.
I won't be checking this site as much so any comments you do post I appreciate but probably won't get back to you straight away. I'm also not adding anymore friends so don't bother asking - sorry!
Anyways; as the say in all references to "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
"So Long and Thanks for All The Fish!"
February 03 New Year, Old ProblemsHAPPY (BE LATED) NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year - whatever you did or wherever you were.
I hit a new high on views before Christmas! 108 views on my blog! Woohoo!
Recently I've had random happens, or thoughts if you will, since my last entry. I've affectionally labeled those thoughts under 'Random Crap!' below, feel free to read if you're interested. If not skip down to my life update, or if you came here for reviews scroll further down!
Random Crap!
Life Update
Unfortunetly due to space I had to cut this section short (DAMN MSN SPACES TEXT LIMITATIONS), which is a shame since I know most of it's boring but I typed up a few interestings things here and there including my thoughts on the new Camden and Greenwich, if you are interested, you can read it on my barely used live journal account here.
Overall January was pretty much same-old same-old on the work front, health wise I've not been at my best and mentally it's been hard as several people I care deeply for have had a rough month as well, so I've been worried about them. Plus several times I've doubted that I'm ever going to recover from my food poisening (no change there!), but hopefully 2008 will improve as the year progresses. Besides, my new 2008 calender opened up on Hiro Nakamura!
What a better way to start the year than a smile from Hiro? Hopefully he is a sign this year will be a good one!
The WahWah Views
Originally I though the name was cute but now "The Wahwah Views" is started to annoy me, but I can't think of anything else! If anyone has any ideas feel free to contribute!
Today's reviews are dominated by computer games (when aren't they?). Including short reviews for my current Wii collection, which consist of 5 games and a long review for another survivial horror! I promise my next long review will not be a survival horror for those who are tired of them yet. As previously stated you can see more of my reviews at amazon.co.uk.
![]() Title: Super Mario Galaxy Genre: Platform, Adventure Platform: Wii Certificate: 3+ Nunchuck Controller Needed?: Yes Rating: 4/5 Synopsis: Every 100 years, a comet flies past the planet, dropping star bits as it passes and involves the planet in a white light. On this day, a festival occurs and Mario plans to go to the festival with his special one, Peach. However as he makes his way to Peach’s castle, Bowser decides to ruin this special event and captures Peach, to use her as part of his plans to take over the universe!
Wow! What can I say! I can see why it’s flying off the selves just like the Wii is! To be honest, I’m not the biggest Mario fan, I’ve been more of a Sonic gal myself; my brother is the one who has 100% completed Super Mario 64 and Luigi’s Mansion, plus he insists on playing Mario Party most of the time. Mario has a huge legacy and even though I’ve not been that interested in him, I was intrigued by this title. It’s currently the most played game in my household at the moment, with both me and my brother playing with mum supporting! The graphics are literally flawless, the graphics made me wide-eyes on “Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games” but this title tops that instantly, you can see all the textures of each surface, such as the shine on wet floors and the rough-ness on a wooden planet – they really are gorgeous! They are loads of fun and varied levels that are also diverse in difficulty to make both newbies and hard core gamers happy; such as finding hidden items, racing various characters, completing a level with only one life and collecting 100 purple coins! There are lots to do and when you think it’s over, there’s even more fun to behold. The music is also brilliantly composed, it captures many elements from previous Mario scores and adds its own spin to them as well. I think that the ‘cuteness’ of some of the new characters and the story may ‘put off’ some players, but if you can believe that a fat Italian plumber can fight off a gigantic dim-witted dinosaur to save his all-pink and thrills ‘damsel in distress’ girlfriend, why not a cute star baby that can transform into planets? The controls also seem easy and fluid at first, but sometimes when you walk upside down on a planet the control can reverse suddenly, and some of Mario’s power ups (such as the spring and flying Mario) can really prove to be a challenge, more often frustrating! Originally I gave Mario Galaxy 4.5/5, but after finishing the game and unlocking a new mode I've dropped it to 4, reason being is that the new mode allows you to play as a different character - but apart from being a slightly better jumper and alternating the difficulty of some of the hidden stars, there's no difference between Mario's and the other character's modes! Which is a shame since with the new character they could've done many funny and interesting things with the dialogue, story, everything! Yet they didn't...wasted opportunity. Overall though, a must have title for any Wii owner.
Title: Mario Party 8 Genre: Party, Board Game Platform: Wii Certificate: 3+ Nunchuck Controller Needed?: No Rating: 3/5
Anyone who follows Mario would know of this series, for those who don’t, the ‘Mario Party’ series is basically a party game that features all the lovable characters from the Mario series onto a computer game version of a board game. The players have to collect coins within each board and purchase stars, the one with the highest amount of stars after certain amount of turns wins the game. Most of the titles in the series have very little different content from each other, so far I’ve played 2, 4 and 5 of the series and the only major difference between them is the selection of mini games and graphics. Is Mario Part 8 any different? No in short. But it has brought forward some nice elements I’d like to see in the future; on the other hand I’d like it to get rid off problems that have existed since the series began!
The graphics are nice enough, shows off the textures of the water and other surfaces nicely enough but compared to my current Wii collection it is one of the weakest, being less detailed and not exactly pushing the console’s boundaries. There are added boards, though look identical to previous games, the rules have slightly been altered. So instead of purchasing stars you have to find the appropriate character to fork them over or you need to invest in hotels to come out on top - I like this variation of gameplay outside the mini games, instead of just wandering around the board buying stars. I’m also fond of the less screen time the CPU characters get whilst playing, in previous games you had to witness them make decisions on the board, play mini games, etc, though we still witness the mini games the whole ‘board’ playing is reduced – a step in the absolutely RIGHT direction! Hopefully the next title will take it even further. The selections of mini games are a hit and miss; at a glance they appear very much the same compared to previous selections. Although some of the games make good use of the Wii remote in fun ways, other times they seem to be lifted off the Gamecube capabilities. Going from shaking the Wii remote up and down to pressing down on the d-pad seems quite odd; in addition the controls and rules for some of the games are a bit peculiar as well. For example on a previous 2 player racing game one player controls the speed whilst the other manoeuvres the vehicle, in the racing game on this title, BOTH characters control the direction of the vehicle, which leads to over-doing a turn whilst playing, so it’s quite unbalanced. If you feel the whole gameplay has been stretched as far as it can go and hope this latest title will prove you wrong, don’t bother forking out the money as it doesn’t. One player action can get tiresome, multiplayer can be fun at times, but with many other party games available on the wii that perform much better than Mario Party 8, this title is only for die-hard fans!
Title: Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Genre: Sports Party Game Platform: Wii and DS Certificate: 3+ Nunchuck Controller Needed?: Yes for Some Events Rating: 4/5
When I read about this game coming out on Wikipedia, I had to rub my eyes; I thought it was a cruel, mean joke! For years I’ve read in mags such as “Offical Nintendo Magazine” where people have written in saying why Mario is better than Sonic or visa versa, now two major companies plus two of the most famous mascots in gaming history have joined forces to make this very brilliant game! It’s probably one of the best marketing techniques ever, why decide between a Sonic or Mario game when you can play both characters on the same disc? It's fantastic! So why have I not rated it 5/5? The reasons are quite simple and probably could’ve been avoided if they were picked up before by the developers – but no game is perfect eh? First of all, although you have a wide range of playable characters from both series, several characters that would’ve been a great addition have been left out. For example I cannot think as to why Blaze the Cat was chosen over Rouge the Bat, when Rouge has proved to be more popular and in more previous Sonic titles. Also, even though you can unlock different events and difficulties of other events, you cannot unlock anymore characters – that was a wasted opportunity! I mean come on I would’ve loved to see Boo race against Shadow! Or Toad against Tails! Such a shame really… Secondly; in several of the events, if you do not perform a ‘jump’ or ‘throw’ correctly or do so too soon you often see the “Foul” text upon the screen, which is fair enough. However if you perform a triple jump and you get a “good” rating for each jump only to be told at the very end that your first jump was an inch over the ‘jump’ line, it is very annoying! It would’ve been better and nicer if they notify you as you make the foul jump rather than leading you to believe that you’ve broken the world record and actually end up forfeiting your turn altogether! And last but not least; it’s so bloody tiring! Seriously I played for 2 days and my arms were ready to fall off! And doing the ‘dream race’ made my heart pound harder than I’ve ever heard it before! Its bags full of fun but if you’re ill or if your arms are still hurting from the previous game, you’ll not exactly be in a hurry to play again.
On the whole there’s enough to play by yourself or with friends, plus the brilliant graphics and enjoyable gameplay to keep all Mario and Sonic fans happy! If Wii Sports is not enough for you, try this!!
Title: Sonic and the Secret Rings Genre: Adventure, Action, Fantasy, Platform Platform: Wii Certificate: 7+ Nunchuck Controller Needed?: No Rating: 2.5/5 Synopsis: One day, while looking at a book on Arabian nights, he accidentally frees a genie by the name of Shahra. She tells of an evil being known as Erazor Djinn, who is wiping out the pages of the book in order to make the world of Arabian nights his own! Asking for Sonic’s help, he is sucked into the book and must battle this new foe before it’s too late.
I was very reluctant to give the game a 2.5 out of 5 rating, originally I contemplated a 2 but I eventually settled for 2.5 since it is a Sonic game and I had to give the benefit of the doubt since I haven’t completed it yet. I have loved and pretty much followed Sonic’s progress from the Sega Mega Drive to now the Wii, I love both the 2D platformers on the 16-bit console and the 3D adventures on the Gamecube, when I heard he had moved to the Wii and also the PS3 – I aimed to make sure that the Sonic titles would be one of the first games I get for each console. At first, this game showed promise but after several attempts it’s proved to be more of a chore rather than an enjoyable game! I know it’s an early title for the Wii but the control system is awful! Some of the controls (such as back step) don’t work and others need an extreme reaction to make them take effect. For example I had to literally throw the Wii remote at the senor bar to register a homing attack, with most times failing to and resulting in death! And even if you succeed the lock-on doesn’t always work so you end up plunging to your doom anyway! I’m sure that this is the game that caused all the property damage and physical injuries to players when the Wii was first realised because it was the only way to make most of the controls effective! Plus I hate the fact that Sonic is constantly moving, you have to hold a button down to stop him. The speed he walks and not knowing how to stop him at the start of the game is enough to strike fear into any new player’s hearts. Controls aside the way the whole game is layout is tiresome, instead of the whole ‘learning curve’ at the beginning being all one level, each move has it’s own ‘page’ in the ‘storybook’ (also know as section) of the adventure menu, it’s annoying having to select each mission, do it, come out and have to select the next one when a simple fade away to the next would have been much smoother. The only positive things I can say are the voice acting is ok, the ‘comic panel’ story telling is interesting and the graphics are pleasable. I think this will be one of the last titles I complete of my current Wii collection; it’s no where near as fun, enjoyable or as easy to play as previous titles from the Sonic collection. Don’t get me wrong, I think that performing Sonic’s moves and attacks using the remote is a great idea, it makes you feel part of the action, but when it only works 10% of the time, THAT’S not a good idea!
Title: Tomb Raider: Anniversary Genre: Action, Adventure, Platform Platform: Playstation 2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii, Windows PC Certificate: 16+ Nunchuck Controller Needed?: Yes Rating: 3.5/5 Synopsis: Lara Croft has been hired by Jacqueline Natla to find one of the three pieces of an artefact known as the Atlantean Scion. The offer intrigues Lara as both her and her father have been searching for this artefact for a long while. As she travels to the ice land of Peru and journeys deep into the ruins, it seems Natla has something up her sleeve…
I’ve not been an avid follower of Lara Croft; I remember playing the original Tomb Raider on the Playstation that my friend lent me. I got stuck on the dinosaur but had to give back the game to my friend who eventually moved away and I wasn’t that interested to hire it out from my local Blockbuster at the time. Sure I admire the character since she’s hot, British and has a cool career, but I only really purchased this title since I liked the advert on TV and it was the only title on the Woolworths self that looked enjoyable.
The graphics are lifted from the PS2 version (according to a review I’ve read), which look nice and are detailed enough but a little ‘upgrade’ would’ve been nice, to reduce some of the glitches that I’ve noticed. The music score is nice enough to present the atmosphere, and the main theme on the title screen is soothing just like the original version on the PS1. I like the structure of the levels and the thought-required puzzles involved, although sometimes you perform moves that don’t always go according to plan, the game is quite enjoyable throughout. (I’m also very happy that I’ve finally got passed that stupid dinosaur! Yay!) Like it says on the box, the Wii version does have some exclusive features; such as the ‘rubbing awards’, meaning you uncover ancient tablets in your surroundings and some puzzles have been altered to incorporate the Wii’s special features. I also like the ‘interactive’ cut scenes, so instead of just watching Lara back flip, grab her guns and shoot the daylights out of the pack of wolves; you get given commands to shake your controls so that you feel part of the action. The other versions of this game do have interactive cut scenes but require button combinations; I think movements are easier and more fun to perform with physical movements than punching in buttons. The biggest drawback of this title is the controls; first of all it relies too much on the ‘cursor’ of the Wii remote itself. The cursor is used to aim your gun, aim your flashlight, control the camera…so most of Lara’s moves, which is actually a bit tiresome. Plus also, for several parts of the game particular moves do not work unless executed in a certain way. Too many times have I jumped Lara towards a pole, Lara goes through the pole. I jump Lara towards the ledge to grab on; Lara fails to see the platform and falls to her doom. I jump Lara and release the grapple towards a hook, the grapple doesn’t grab and again I hear Lara’s spine snap in half. There are long periods of gameplay where it all works fine but when you reach a section when nothing seems to go your way and you’ve happen to have picked up items in the progress you have to pick them up again when restarting at the check point! Another area where controllers are against you is during combat. On the PS2 version, all you have to do is hold L1 to lock onto the target, and no matter where your enemy goes your gun is sure to damage them when you fire. However on the Wii version the Z button (on the nunchuck) brings out Lara’s guns and locks onto the wii cursor, meaning that you’ll hit the enemy if the wii cursor is aimed at he enemy. This seems fine at first and somewhat fun but when the enemy moves or you get knocked over or the camera angle changes or all of the above, you have to re-aim with your remote or re position the camera and hope the enemy stands still long enough for you to shoot, it also doesn’t help if you don’t have a sturdy hand! This form of control may make you feel like you’re part of the action but it also gives you an unfair advantage compared to PS2 players. Eventually combat becomes easier to handle but the first boss will put most players into frustration. Thankfully combat is a small part of the game compared to the rest, and when the controls are on your side, the game is fun to play. The only other nick-pick thing is the subtitles, they are quite small which is fine if you sit quite close to the television but if you’re sitting at a healthy distance you end up squinting your eyes. Also when characters are talking, instead of saying “Lara: blah bah, Larson: blah, blah”, all the text rolls into one, no names are mentioned, so it looks like only one person is talking. It looks strange if you can’t hear what the characters are saying and have to refer to the text (like I was the other day when the house happened to be quite noisy) and in addition it looks lazy.
I’m quite glad I’ve picked up this title now; despite the controls I’m quite enjoying this title. I also know that once I’ve completed the game I have several things to unlock on my second playthrough – a good reason to come back to this game. Whether Lara Croft is a good friend or a complete stranger to you, there are lots of elements here that will appeal to many gamers. Hire out if you’re unsure but I can guarantee, it’s worth the money!
Title: Rule of Rose Genre: Survival Horror Platform: Playstation 2 Certificate: 16+ Rating: 3.5/5
Rule of Rose is a funny old game, it’s one of the few titles that managed to hit the headlines in major game sites and newspapers before it even hit the selves. Not because it was highly anticipated, not because it presented any ground-breaking graphics or gameplay, but because it cause quite a controversy. Before the game was available for pre-order, the game caused an up roar with its supposedly very violent gameplay involving children, under-age lesbian themes and animal cruelty. It became such a concern that several officials decided to not rest until the game was banned from their country! As a result, it was eventually withdraw from the UK, New Zealand and Australia; however it was released in other parts of Europe as well as America and Japan. Was the ‘up roar’ over nothing? If anything banning a game just gives the game more publicity and surely a ‘game’ cannot contain such inappropriate themes? I can safely say they are not entirely correct; though there is animal cruelty and children being violent towards each other – it keeps it to the minimum and shields most of it from the audience (but just enough to in plant the fear into the player’s hearts). The underage ‘lesbian’ theme is only present in one small chapter, it’s not sexual, and it’s not part of the main story. So did the ban make the relevant countries miss out on a great horror title? Or was the ban worth all the hassle?
The story of ‘Rule of Rose’ is set in 1930s England and revolves around Jennifer – a poor, unlucky 19 year old whose parents have passed away in an airship accident. She is sent away to an orphanage where she is tormented by the Aristocrat Club: a group of young girls who must be presented with a gift for each month in order to prevent any further torment. Can Jennifer find her way out of this nightmare?
The story is unlike any other title I’ve come across, unlike some games where the story is spoon fed, this game is quite cryptic. Not all of the major story elements are presented if you just play the game with minimal exploring, many hidden ‘documents’ plus some character interaction helps shred light in many grey areas that the game hides. Unless you invest time and energy into uncovering the whole story you’ll find yourself in the dark and very confused at the end of the game. This is not necessary a bad thing, sometimes being ‘spoon fed’ a plot can leave little to the imagination and patronising, unfortunately this brilliant story line is combined with many horrible game elements that will make many gamers not care enough to advance through.
‘Rule of Rose’ has a decent size cast, all that contribute towards the horror the unlucky girl is forced to endure. The Aristocrat club consist of; Diane, known as the ‘strong willed princess’ and the Duchess of the club, Meg or known by her rank as ‘Baroness’, as well as intelligent but inflexible. Then there’s the ‘cold hearted princess’, Eleanor and Amanda, who was the lowest rank of the Aristocrat Club until Jennifer showed up! The enemies that Jennifer must endure are all children as well, many like zombies – being faceless and big eyes completely black. Others are animals that brutally attack you with weapons or children in paper bags. All of the characters personalities and the enemies play their own little role into weaving the terror into the game, also their need to reject, torment or kill Jennifer makes the player feel for the poor girl and create the surrounding that she is very alone against the darkness.
Welcome to the Aristocrat Club!
The layout of the game is quite interesting and will lure you in long enough to see its flaws, instead of basic narrating or character interaction, the plot is advanced by small ‘storytelling’ blurbs on the screen, whether its before you speak to a character or before an action is taken place. For example when speaking to the character Diane, the blurb comes up and says; “No matter what the unlucky girl said to her, the strong-willed Princess would only gaze lethargically. Asleep or awake, the girl was alone. What a sad, unlucky girl”. At first these story telling moments make the game move slowly but it’s very absorbing, it’s put together very well and brings forth an atmosphere not found in any other game. The game also incorporates small ‘fairy tales’ that reflect certain chapters of the plot, the kids handwriting and doodles combined with the disturbing story (often resulting in death) in each book is enough to raise some eyebrows, but it all plays brilliantly into the horror that surrounds ‘Rule of Rose’. Unfortunately due to the strong fantasy element, it’s very hard to actually get ‘scared’ at what you see. Sure, many elements are ‘disturbing’, it hits that barrier many times but never once was I scared or felt my heart ponding, considering its marketed as a ‘Survival Horror’ it’s a shame really.
The graphics…are like a cheap box of chocolates. At first they look nicely presented in a detailed box and the chocolate looks delicious. But after taking your first bite you’re left with a bittersweet after-taste. ‘Rule of Rose’ opens up with a beautiful opening movie, the characters come to life as you begin the game and the surroundings look very detailed, they bring out the 1930s England period well. However as the game progresses it’s not so flawless, including Jennifer’s weapon going through enemies and walls, Jennifer walking through her dog companion, characters moving very awkwardly and becoming less detailed as the game progresses – like as if the game designers got lazy later on in development. This game was released in 2006, the same year as Final Fantasy 12, and 1 year after Haunting Ground, yet ‘Rule of Rose’ fails to surpass any of them on the visual department. If you’re looking for a game to demonstrate the best PS2 graphical capabilities, this is not the game to pick.
The music on the other hand is very well composed, consisting mainly of strings instruments and a piano on several tracks. Yutaka Minobe brings forth the emotion and a ‘human’ element to this title in a very intriguing way, the theme song ‘A Love Suicide’ is a wonderful composition to open up the game. Though some of the tracks can get slightly repetitive, along with the plot is remains one of the highlights of the game. In addition most Survival Horror titles tend to have ‘atmosphere’ tracks rather than actual music like ‘Rule of Rose’ provides, it makes a nice change. The character voices are a pleasure to hear, all of the British accents are done very well and none of the actors slip out of character at all. However the game didn’t give them much of an opportunity to shine. Though there is dialogue in cut scenes, outside of them it seemed like they couldn’t make up their mind whether they ought to be used or not. For example speaking to one character, she’ll voice everything from the subtitles, speak to another and only the first line will be spoken, speak to someone else and the character will only make sounds to demonstrate the mood they are in (such as giggles, or angry sighs). It’s unbalanced for unnecessary reasons.
The game’s major criticism comes from the game play itself. Who wants to play a game if they can’t actually play it? Even with an intriguing storyline no gamer would want to put themselves through tantrums, annoyance, anguish and frustration to see what’s at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately this game will deliver all of the above, even if you are known for having extreme patience, ‘Rule of Rose’ cannot hide the fact that the gameplay ultimately sucks.
Let’s start with the combat controls, or lack of them shall we say? It seems the developers, taking into account that Jennifer is classified as a ‘timid, poor, unlucky girl’, decided to play the ‘timid’ card too hard. Jennifer can use various objects from throughout the game as a weapon including forks, kitchen knives and pipes, she attacks by locking on using the R1 button and X to attack. At first you may think ‘did I press the X button at all?’ since Jennifer is SO timid that she winces when swinging her weapon and barely lets it leave her side. Even if you do get a decent weapon with a decent range and she manages to swing it, the next obstacle is to actually HIT the target. Too many times the weapon goes through the enemy or fails to hit it at all, or worst Jennifer aims at an enemy on the floor that’s no longer a threat to her, whilst the enemies can attack her from miles away and with a much higher accuracy! Considering that many enemy encounters Jennifer is severally out numbered, this is unacceptable. Sure not all enemy encounters are necessary to advance in the game, and the bosses are few and far between, but it’s the combat that will ultimately tear your hair out and will make you think twice before continuing if you happen to get killed (and believe me, you will!). To contribute to this, many healing items are hidden, as are the saving points, and bosses tend to have a hefty amount of life points that require a lot of hits from Jennifer to kill. Ultimately it fails to conjure any fun; instead it draws the attention away from the ‘scary’ moments and motivating plot.
Even WITH a weapon, the combat is tiresome.
Other hiccups on the controls become apparent when the camera angle changes, the controls suddenly reverse. One point the camera is in front of Jennifer and pressing ’up’ makes her walk towards the camera; suddenly the camera’s behind her and ‘up’ registers her as walking in the opposite direction she was just going. Irritating if you’re to run away from the enemy and you instead end up colliding with them!
The game is often compared to ‘Haunting Ground’, mainly due to the addition of a dog companion to assist the main character, but that is where similarities end. Your canine companion in ‘Rule of Rose’, Brown, is not used in the same way as Hewie in ‘Haunting Ground’. Hewie was mainly used for combat purposes and the main character had much more control over the dog. However Brown does not participate in combat, though he can distract the enemy in some situations, he mainly serves as a guide to help advance in the game. In order for Jennifer to find gifts for the aristocrat club, she must use items connected to it (in some shape for form) by using Brown to sniff the object and follow the trail to wherever it takes him. While it’s simple to operate and works well most of the time, it can get very repetitive, in fact all you need is for Brown to sniff on the item provided continuously and you can complete the game quite swiftly. However due to a lot of back tracking and very little skill needed, it’s uninspired. Despite this the game replies heavily on Brown as he is also needed to find hidden items to unlock many extras in the game. Plus additional healing items for both him and Jennifer are hidden yet essential since the main game provides very few visible ones. However when finding hidden items, that’s when Brown’s mechanical flaws come to light, many times Brown has lead Jennifer to doors that are unable to access or unlock in that particular point in the game, or several times Brown has become ‘trapped’ in a loop where he either continuously leads Jennifer between entering one room into another, or he gets stuck in a particular corner of the room. Also unlike ‘Haunting Ground’ you have very little interaction with Brown, with Hewie you could pat, scold and even shake hands, but Jennifer can only use the commands ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘find’. The end result is that Brown comes off with little personality and the game could still be playable if Brown wasn’t at the unlucky girl’s side. If you so happen to enjoy your first play through, there are many elements that call for a second try, including unlocking weapons, costumes, a sound test and a cut scene theatre. As mentioned above most are connected to finding hidden items via Brown within each chapter of the game, though the extra costumes are very different to the run-of-the-mill found in games, only those who were able to stand the gameplay first time round will have the stomach to try again.
Taken as a whole, there is not enough ‘good’ going for it for light gamers to give a try, only hardcore Survival Horror gamers and those who favour a good story over playability factor will find something worth struggling through here. I do have a fondness for this game, and I do not regret purchasing this title on any level. Personally I would recommend this to anyone, however I know this game will not be for everyone.
Song of the Blog
This week we have the luring theme song from the survival horror game "Rule of Rose" entitled 'A Love Suicide'. Due to lack of space, please click here for lyrics! Sorry to jet but, this is me, over and out. December 23 Ho Ho Ho!Happy Holidays Everyone! ![]() I hope you are all well, I also hope that all the pretty decorations are up, the stress of Christmas shopping is behind you and you all have nice plans during this lovely time of year.
On the evening of Thursday 20th December, I've just returned from my Christmas lunch with work and it was my last day at the office! I now do not return to work until 2008 (2nd to be precise), so thats about 2 weeks of Xmas cheer, time with friends/family and lie ins! I hope others have booked some time off work as well, and those who are at uni and get time off automatically....good for you!
Is it me or did 2007 go extremely fast? Well it might have been more of the case for me since I have been ill since April, plus 2 months absent from work, but still I feel like a whole year has been wasted and I've hardly evolved since my last entry reflecting back from the previous year. I've not accomplished any of the revolutions I made for myself at the beginning of 2007. Do you remember what goals I set myself? Lets look over them shall we briefly?
So yeah, apart from Salmonella poisening, not really much to brag about this year. Hopefully the end of 2007 will end on a high and 2008 will kick 2007's arse! I really need things to go well for me next year to make up for such a horrible year. Let's move onto my...
Life Update
Now that it's the Xmas holidays, I've had a chance to catch up with those closest to me. Plus some several good events have happened and I got myself a new toy...interested? Read on!
Let's start with the bad, I broke my little toe on my left foot.
Ok tell a lie its not a broken just badly bruised. I thought I just bashed it but when it swelled to 3 times its normal size in 10 minutes I decided to put some ice on it...it turned blue then purple then red. This was the thursday before my last day of work so my last few days at the office were of my hobling around the room. Had to strap it up whenever I went out. So this affected my work and seeing people plus it drew out a horrible cold (probably due to shock), but it's a lot better now and although still not quite the right colour, I can deal.
In my intro I stated that I had an office Xmas Party. The kids department all went to the Sarastro Restaurant in Drury Lane, it used to be a Russian theatre, all of the inside is gold and velvet plus skeletons and opera masks are hanging on the walls. Yeah sure it looks camp in places and gothic in others, but it is a great place! On the top floor, access only by stairs are booths which you can book, in each booth you can draw the certains so that you can get drunk in your own little section of the restaurant! In the toilets, to add a little spice to your normal routine, all of the walls have erotic arts. Most of the are sketchy but they range from orgys to devils sucking on female's breasts. If you're interested in something a little different this restaurant is a good choice! The only things I thought let it down where the graffiti that can be found in some of the booths and in the toilets. Plus the turkey I had for dinner was a bit dry...but everything else was very enjoyable! Look in my albums for pictures of the place if you're interested!
Secret Santa took place again this year, last year I had Billie and my gift to her proved to be popular. I got 'Pretty Woman' DVD as a joke from Becky B last year as well. This year was different for me, I had Anna, the female presenter from Toonattik, I got her some Lush a recommened by her presenter co-worker, Jamie. It was quite perfect really, in Lush they do special boxes which are wrapped up and with bow, one was called 'Secret Santa' and it was £5....which was the limit to spend! Score me thinks!
This year I got a Studio Ghibli film "The Cat Returns" from Linda as she lent it to me a few weeks ago and I said I loved it! So I walked away happy! You can read my review for the DVD below in this blog's edition of 'The Wahwah Views'.
I saw Andy the day after he returned from his first term as a 2nd year, I went round his for the afternoon and then we went to see "The Night Before Christmas", which was held at the Misken theatre (our old 6th form college). It was set several generations after Tim Burton's classic: "The Nightmare Before Christmas", about Zack Jackson, the newly appointed Pumpkin King and Jack Skellington's great-grandson, his world is turned upside down when he falls in love with Sandy Claws' daughter - Holly. It wasn't bad, Andy really enjoyed it and they had good song choices. I wasn't fond of certain re-use of gags and songs which were taken from 'Ponochio' which was the Christmas production 2 years ago (seems lasy to me) and I think some of the characters where annoying rather than funny. But I was happy just to be with Andy, though I still feel fragile its nice we can actually do some things together now than we could duirng the summer when I last saw him. I have really missed him whilst he was in Totnes...
He also came over the day afterwards (sunday) for dinner, alcohol and laughs. On Sunday I had a brief visit from George too! He came by to drop off a Xmas card since he was in town, it's always nice to see him, it's such a shame we don't se each other as much as we would like to. He seems happy at his job and his relationship with Lou is still blossoming; it's nice to know that even great distances can't sether the bond of two hearts.
Landa came up to see me for lunch one friday a few weeks ago; I took her to the Japanese place thats behind Waterloo station, it was the first time she's tried Japanese and we both really enjoyed it. It also gave me chance to give her a large bouquet of flowers, the one that was supposed to have shown up on her doorstep on her actual birthday. She really loved them but dreaded taking them into uni after lunch!
I've also taken Kinesha to the same restaurant several weeks beforehand! She works literally round the corner from me, and we arranged to meet up before I went to American and got sick, but due to such events it was always postponed. But we managed to sneak in a lunch on a friday and we shared a pleansent conversation over a delightful Japanese cuisine. We also planned ot go ice skating however we booked the tickets too late for the date we wanted, then we couldn't agree on an alternative day since we also included our old school friend Emma. I tried to arrange another lunch before the end of 2007 but again, work and timing got in the way. I really hope 2008 brings us closer together and develop the friendship we lost after we left secondary school, time will tell I suppose!
On Saturday 22nd December we had a small Xmas party, it was from 2pm til about 10pm when everyone finally left. Andy and Katy showed up which lighten up my spirits as I haven't seen Katy since her birthday and Andy all week, I gave Katy her presents and we made plans later in the week to really catch up. I invited Landa and George also but they were unable to come. Daniel had several of his friends for about 2 hours and Brian & family made face too.
What made this day a landmark was that I had my FIRST ALCOHOLIC DRINK SINCE I GOT SICK! SO LITERALLY SINCE APRIL! Originally I planned to have my drink at the office Xmas lunch but I decided against it in the end, instead I had a glass of Champagne with pomogranite juice (to make it change colour, which I like!). Mum gave it to me ay 4.15pm (ish) and I finished it at 9pm...I wanted to go slowly since I know I'm most likely to get sick and drunk if I swallowed it whole like I usually do! I felt fragile during and after drinking but I'm proud of myself that I've taken that extra small step to getting back to my old self!
The last major event since my last blog is...I GOT A WII!!!
Yes I finally have a gorgeous Wii in my home, and it's all MINE! Literally I've nicknamed it "MINE!" and I paid for all of it! I've had my eye on the Wii for ages now, originally I wasn't bothered but then the game library grew and I became rather intrigued by it. Games which made me think twice about it include Mario Galaxy, Soul Calibur Legends in 2008, Sonic and the Secret Rings and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Whenever I saw one in the office been given away as a competition prize I would eye it like a gold mine! I postponded purchasing it for sometime still unsure, but then 3 weeks ago my collague, Amy, gave me the Mario and Sonic Olympic game for free! She got a copy from a company but she has no use for it, and since she knew I liked Sonic - she handed it over. I didn't have a Wii at the time but if someone gave you a free game you've desired for ages you cannot not buy a new console now can you?
![]() However when browsing the shops I didn't realise the Wii was the No.1 Christmas present of 2007! I thought the hype was in 2006 but no, out of stock everywhere, I even discovered a site that specialised in notifying people when shops had stock! One Game store clerk said to me that they had stock in the morning and 30 minutes later they were all sold out. Also, Nintendo DS have been sold out quickly also! Nintendo are doing well for themselves aren't they?
Anyways I later decided to wait till after the new year when the need to get one had died down, however on Friday 21st I walked past Woolworths and saw a hand drawn sign saying 'Wii is in Stock'. It was in the afternoon so I expected this to no longer be valid but when I got to the desk and asked for one there it was! I have to buy 2 games worth at least £34.99 with it, in total I spend about £300 if you include the extra controller and nunchuck I got from Game so Daniel could play with me.
So I now have 5 games (including the free game at work, Wii sports that comes free with the Wii and the 3rd game I got at Woolworths 'cos I wanted it).
I'll hopefully do a mini review on all the games I have plus the Wii on another entry for you if you plan to purchase this delightful games console. Watch this space if you're interested!
The WahWah Views
This week's dosage of Wahwah views contains 3 reviews that I planned to include on my previous blog yet there was not enough room on, this is 2 movies based on Marvel comics which have just been released on DVD and a surivial horror game. I've also included 2 Studio Ghibli films that I had the pleasure to see aswell. Don't forget you can also view more of my reviews on amazon! Check out my profile for more.
![]() Film Title: Spiderman 3 Synopsis: Peter Parker’s life has hit a high; he’s with the woman he loves, Spiderman is now loved by the public and things are looking up for the man who struggled in the past since he got his spidey powers. However his happiness is short lived when his past comes back to haunt him, his old friend Harry is out to kill him and things begin to slide with Mary Jane. To top if off, a mysterious ooze from outer space sets its sights on Peter! When I read reviews about this movie on the net, most of general public made the movie sound like it’s the worst Marvel comic based movie since Daredevil! But when I watch it, I thought it was far from it! The acting is still top-notch, the special effects are by far the best in the Spiderman series so far, the battle scenes have been beautifully constructed and the story – not without its faults – but is strong enough to carry the Spiderman legacy forward.
Film Title: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer Synopsis: Set 2 years after the first movie, The Silver Surfer comes to Earth and causes dramatic climate changes to the planet Earth. Mr Fantastic/Reed Richards and Invisible Woman/Sue Storm are preparing for their wedding but things don’t go according to plan when a strange phenomenon causes a huge blackout and the Silver Surfer makes contact with the heroes – to warn of the destruction of their planet!
Film Title: The Cat Returns Synopsis: Haru seems to be having a string of bad luck in life; she's late for school, gets laughed at for being late and the boy she likes is going out with someone else. However when she rescues a cat from being run over by a truck, the cat speaks to her and promises to pay her back. That night the King of Cats arrives at her doorstep to invite her to his kingdom and marry his son - Prince Lune - the cat she saved!
The animation is slightly different to the typical Studio Ghibli style, the eyes are slightly bigger and are a bit brighter but the magic is still there! I really enjoyed this film, it was light hearted and had a Disney feel to it - that it took you into this other magical world but wasn't filled with love stories and over the top meaningful messages. There are some wonderful and funny characters in this film, and as you can see above some brillant voice acting! My only complaint is Anne Hathaway who sometimes did the typical American slang (like 'whateva') when voicing the main character but she was great any other time. The only other thing I didn't like was that it was quite short compared to other Studio Ghibli films, I think a particular relationship was rushed at the end and could've been better if the film was slightly longer, but still, I loved it! I would recommend you see 'Whispers of the Heart' before watching this film, simply because this film was made because the main character in 'Whispers of the Heart' wrote a fantasy story and it was so popular in Japan that Studio Ghibli made it into a film! I also recommend this film to parents and teachers who wish to occupy their kids for about an hour and I'm sure they won't take their eyes off the TV! Film Title: Grave of the Fireflies Synopsis: Based upon a semi-autobiography of the same name; set in Japan during World War II, Setsuko and Seita are brother and sister trying to survive in the countryside with their relatives with little food, little shelter, air raid bombings and both parents deseased. Seita tries to live in his father's shadow by struggling to keep him and his little sister alive, often resorting to his life savings and even stealing...will the war ever end?
I heard much things about this movie before my collague lent me the DVD, I heard it has made many people cry after watching it and that it's one of the best war films of all time. Well it takes a lot to make me to cry and I'm not the biggest fan of war movies; but I still was intrigued. No I didn't cry but the characters were very well protrayed and developed perfectly. There were some very heart felt moments and the animation compliment them too. Game Title: ObsCure After completely finishing off Haunting Ground, I decided to search the net for something similar in the Survival Horror catalogue. After much browsing I came across a game known as “Obscure”, though gameplay and story wise it was completely unrelated to Haunting Ground – it also wasn’t like Resident Evil or Silent Hill. Plus it was published by a European country, after reading a review on “Chris’ Survivor Horror Quest” site; I knew I had to find it. About 1 month later, in a small “pre-owned” games shop I manage to find it, after about 10 hours I completed my first run of the game. Was it that good I wanted to see it to the end as fast as my fingers could press the buttons, or was it really that short and terrible?
One evening, in Leafmore High School, Kenny Matthews is in the changing rooms when his belongings are swiped. Following his thief, he is lead into an underground laboratory underneath the school, where students are being experimented on and horrible creatures lurk in the darkness! The next morning, Kenny is nowhere to be found, so his younger sister and his girlfriend decide to stay after school to look for him. Little do they realise what terror is out on the loose within their school grounds…
The game allows you to control 5 teenagers, who all have their own special abilities to use on the field and have personal view on the games events. So when they examine items or when they enter a cut scene they add their own spin and dialogue into the situation. The player controls one teenager and can have another occupy them whilst exploring the haunted school, who is control by the computer’s AI. The AI controlled characters reacts well to all the enemies and surroundings (so reliable in combat) however you must supply them with weapons and heal them as they cannot heal themselves or you. Sometimes they get in the way when you’re trying to explore certain areas, especially small ones, but it’s forgivable since they tend to cover your back and strike the enemy before you’ve even seen it!
The characters “special abilities” are very realistic, as in they don’t have ‘magic powers’ or anything that maybe out of the ordinary, so it keeps in tone with the whole “high school” theme. For instance we have Stanley Jones, a slacker and stoner who can pick locks on certain doors, Shannon Matthews who’s the bright spark of her school & can offer clues on what to do next, and Josh Carter, a reporter for the school paper who can tell if there are any hidden items left in a particular room. Although only 2 of the 5 teenagers are needed to actually complete the game, the rest are mainly to help in combat or provide variety to the gameplay but they are interesting to play around with and are portrayed very well. An interesting element to the gameplay is the 2 player incorporation that can be activated anytime in the game; a 2nd player can easily plug in, pick up the control and control the 1st player’s partner, controlling all of its actions! It’s easy to stay together since whenever a player moves into another room that requires a screen change, the other player automatically joins the first player.
The graphics are ok considering it was released in 2004; the backgrounds are nicely detailed and the creatures themselves – although most of the time surrounded in darkness so are not clear to see – are detailed enough but still come off as “generic gruesome creatures” seen in most horror games and movies. The characters themselves are good but look a little stiff and in some of the cut scenes the graphics aren’t as smooth and polished as they could be. The controls are quite different to normal games that require combat, as they use the L and R buttons to access you inventory rather than through the pauses menu. Since you can combine weapons, holding both the L and R buttons down plus using the D pad can seem a little tricky at first but becomes easier as you go along. Using this system makes it seem more ‘life like’, since you’re wide open to attack whilst fishing out a weapon, and it’s also quite compact and sleek since both inventories are shown on bottom corners of the screens therefore not distracting you from your surroundings. Though the controls are explained certain other elements are not, or several game mechanics are explained too late to be taken into effect, therefore giving the player an unfair playing field. For example, when one of the teenagers dies, that’s it. You can’t bring them back, but you can continue without them. Though it becomes apparent that you can continue the game without all the teenagers, the game doesn’t say if they can be revived or you must restart again if you get into the situation where you need a particular character who has already died. And since healing items are few and far between as well as saving points, characters dying will not be a stranger to anyone playing this game. The game requires to explore the school and solve some puzzles in order to advance in the game; the puzzles range from finding appropriate items to open a particular door and others simply require exploring; such as finding alternative means to enter a room when the door is blocked. None of the ‘puzzles’ are hard enough to put off anyone from replaying but are too simple to but considered puzzles in the first place!
The unlockables are actually quite varied from stuff you can use in-game, to material you can sit back and watch. ‘In game’ extras include new weapons and new costumes, whilst ‘out game’ include music videos from SUM 41 and SPAN, a “making of” video, galleries (character and background artwork) and a “Special mode”. Some are only accessible after completing hard mode, but this again like normal mode will not take you long.
The major faults for this game range from big to small; the biggest being the actual length of the game, which you can tell from my finish time above that it’s rather small for your average game. Despite very few saving points, few healing items, several small puzzles, limited ammo and loads of monsters to tackle – this game doesn’t have what it takes to keep a player going for more than a few play-throughs (and that’s if you really want to play all the various difficulty modes and really desire to unlock everything). All in all I did enjoy this game; it may have been predictable, small and only somewhat original, the game originally costs £20 brand new – you can’t really complain! If you’re a horror fan and want something to waste away a few hours, give this game a go. This game is also fun if you have a mate around to play with since it’s relatively short. If you’re hoping for something groundbreaking, this isn’t the place to look. This game was interesting enough to make me want to put the sequel, Obscure 2 (now available in selected stores) on my Christmas list! So if you see a copy in your local second hand shop, it’s worth a few quid! Plus with the names Stan, Kenny and Mr Garrison in the game – who can say no?
Song of the Blog Christmas is upon us, so you want some Christmas jingles? Song Title: Mad World All around me are familiar faces I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and very happy new year. Hopefully I get to say happy new year properly to you all before the end of 2007! This is me, over and out! August 19 Long Time No Blog!Woah!
Eye-popping madness I'm having. My blog is visable again! And I can stand! Always a plus I know but it's been a complete emotional and physical nightmare since my last entry.
Too much has happened since my last blog to mention everything. I originally wanted to post this after I returned from Florida, however I got sick very badly, for 4 months and counting...2 of those months I was absence from work.
Why you ask? Salmonella poisening.
It's a very long story and involves much more detail, but the cliff notes version is that on 30th March, on the flight to Dallas, Texas via American Airlines. We were meant to get a connecting flight to Florida the same day however thunderstorms in Dallas resulted in a 4 hour flight delay, a extremely bumpy ride, horrible air attendent service, large amounts of people throwing up and grounded in Dallas for the night in a Holiday Inn.
The following morning I ordered an omlette, and every since then I've had about 5 trips to the hospital (2 in Florida), numourous blood tests (ever time I see a 'give blood' advent I say "I would if I had some left!"). As well as intensive exams, including a pelvic exam (extremely unconfortable), a CAT scan, an ultra-sound scan (now I know what to expect if I ever get pregnant) and a biopsie (camera down my throat, which was traumatising since the sedation didn't work so I was awake and choking on a large tube the entire time...).
This also doesn't help with the sudden crop up of family issues that have been haunting me and my family since October last year. Relating to my father, again as mentioned before in a previous entry I won't go into detail however the future looks rough ahead...
So yeah, I've not exactly been in a 'social' mood let alone a blogging mood. I do apologise if anyone does read this. I've seen through the new updates that people have been viewing my space though I'm not sure whether this is random people or my friends. Who knows? But thanks nevertheless for people stopping by, also to those who have supported me during my whole illness, even now as I'm still recovering and being patient with me.
I'm a lot better than I was, I get off days, I'm continuously tired and lacking of stamina and nausea/pain, but at least I can stand, sit up and walk...all good so far.
My original plan (before taking sick) was to review the different aspects of my Florida holiday, mainly the theme parks and restaurants I went to, as well as 2 games I've completed during my ill period - Haunting Ground and Final Fantasy 12. I still have a desire to do an detailed overview of my holiday; but since I'm still ill and am ever so slightly against America at the moment, I don't desire to be biased in my review. So I'll wait till I have the time and the patience to type it up. When I do it'll probably be on my livejournal site, which I only started when my MSN space wouldn't show my blog before all the updates. Now it's back and I'll try to put it into use. Use this link if you wish to view it for curiousity.
Also, if anyone happens to like my reviews can now find them on my amazon site too - not all from this space have been added but you'll find some new ones that will hopefully be of some use to you all. You can find them here: my amazon profile
Now to crack onto business, let's sum up the last few months shall we? Note I was ill this whole time but I'll try to bring it up as little as possible since I've probably already worn it to death...
Let's start with a general overview, more like observations - if you will, of what I've noticed whilst I was in America. Most of these are negative I should warn you. I'm sure how I feel from my Florida holiday does not represent the entire American population and country, so if you're from Washington or Texas and feel insulted by this I do apologise, but I'm sure if you came to London and had a terrible time you would use what you experience against the country itself. I'm not usually this against other countries or people, I usually against all forms of prejudices, I do plan to come back to the USA and have an enjoyable time and change my opinion on the country...but until then...
Here goes:
1) The Americans are either overly sweet, or cold hearted
Maybe not true but that's what I've picked up; one American citizen will seem like the most heart-warming, happiest, sweetest person you've ever met, the next person will be blunt, cold, non-cohearant and couldn't give a damn about anyone but themselves. There's no in between, just those two types of people.
2) EVERYTHING has sugar in it! Even the Bread!
If you have an extreme sweet tooth you'll love it here, if you like a variety of flavourings or hate sweet stuff you'll hate Florida! In Wal Mart you have about millions of brands of sweets, covering about 1/3 of the shop (bare in mind their supermarkets are about 5x the size of our 'standard' size supermarkets). And all the stuff that's meant to be sour or savoury are still sweet! Trying to eat toast when the bread itself is sweet, its disgusting!!!
Also you'll see this: maple flavoured sausage, maple flavoured bacon, maple flavoured bread, maple flavoured just-about-everything!
3) The Americans wouldn't known real bacon even if it hit them in the face!
All they have is streaky bacon. And it's all smoked. Thats it. No back bacon, no middle bacon, no unsmoked bacon. Just smoked streaky bacon...which has decent amount of fat but hardly any meat! THE MEAT IS THE WHOLE BLOODY POINT OF BACON!!!
On the subject of food, the only meat they have avaliable is Chicken or Beef. No pork or lamb...these people don't know what they are missing out on!!!!!
4) Greatest Marketing ploy? Cartoons!
If you live in America, have created a new product and wish to make it look appealing to customers - stick a cartoon on it!
Doesn't matter what you're product is; it could be a breakfast ceral, a type of sweet, plasters or even an inhaler! In all the super markets, you'll find most of the packaging covered in cartoons. It's not just the American based products, others such a Kellog's Corn Flakes has Ariel the Little Mermaid on the front!
The most common cartoons (at the time) were Spiderman, Dora the Explorer and Spongebob.
5) Television = Utter Crap!
Imagine yourself having just finished your dinner, you rest on the sofa, all nice and comfy, and wait for South Park to start.
After a long commercial, the "warning" before each episode appears, you sing along to the theme tune and then - what do you know? - ANOTHER COMMERCIAL!! Feeling like a prat you sit for a further 2 minutes, eventually give up and go to make yourself a cup of tea when - with no warning - the first part of the South Park episode starts to play.
Half way through another commerical plays, again without warning the 2nd half of the cartoon starts while you're in the bathroom. About 9 minutes past, and you guessed it, the 3rd commercial takes place. After 2 minutes of utter rubbish you are brought back to watch the credits...woopie doo...
I'm in no way exaggrating, this is not just with South Park, this situation is the same for the likes of Charmed, Friends, Movies, etc.
That's not even the worst, to my horror me and my brother discovered an American version of "Deal or No Deal". Upon seeing the flashy, solid gold logo for this version, I felt a horrible chill down my spine. The show takes places in a huge stadium, the boxes have been placed with suitcases, and the audience are complete idiots. They clap when the contestant picks a number, they clap when they see the amount, they clap when the presenter talks, they clap all the time! There's no "quiet time" or moments to think about accpeting offers like they do in the British version, they are always yelling, clapping, cheering! Grrr!
Also, instead of the "homely" feel that the British version gets, since all the contestants know each other, make jokes and relate to the audience. Instead contestants are just seen for one episode they are on, the suitcases are opened by size-zero models who are all wearing the same dress and there is no connection/friendship between the banker and presenter at all. The presenter spends 2 seconds on the phone then says to the contestant: "Oh he's worked you out, he's not scared of you" and jabbers on like that.
Superfical is the word me thinks.
6) Hate Queues?
Ok this may sound stupid, because the size of American is astromical compared to England, but the minimun waiting time in a queue for a ride is one hour, no less. Which makes theme parks less enjoyable since you haven't been on the rides before and you don't know which ones are worth the waiting time or not. It's more annoying in the water theme parks, you get yourself soaking in one ride, sit in a queue for 2 hours and by the time you get to the top of the next water slide you're completely dry - and probably sun burnt!
OK my American rant is over (for now...) let's move on shall we?
Most of the events that has happened since my blog are a bit hazzy now but this is what I can remember...
Before I got salmoella poisening in Florida, I went to visit Katy in Canterbury.
We were both under the weather (me cold, her flu) so it wasn't as hyper and energitic as we usually are with each other, but we had fun. I saw some Robot Chicken and Reboot on multi-regional DVD player and DVD I bought her, always great for a laugh. She should me some anime music vidoes, some really good one's too, and we watched "Sensitive Pornograph" too - a yaoi half hour show she downloaded. My first bit of hentai I've seen that wasn't a music video! The weather was mainyl cold but we went out with some of her friends for dinner on Saturday night, plus saw some scenery and did a bit of shopping (mostly for anime, food, and had a coffee break).
Also, after I came back from the USA and before I got worse, I went to see "Curse of the Golden Flower" with Katy, and gave her the prezzies I got for her. We got back late but we had fun and the movie was good. Asian movie are always visually beautiful but the storyline and endings make you (actually Katy) want to kill yourself...(not 'cos they're bad, they're despressing...you get what I mean!)
Several birthdays have passed since my last entry. One being my mums, my brothers and the other mine.
For mums it was the day after we got back from Florida, we didn't have much planned as we were either ill or jet-lacked. But she recieved a bunch of flowers from me plus presents from the family (me, daniel, Brian, Miranda, the boys and Andy).
Mine was on June 16th (Saturday), we went to Frankie and Bennies around the corner from my house for lunch with my family. The food and service has declined since our last visit, whether this was due to new management or since it was busy with children's parties at the time, who knows? In the evening Katy came round to "baby sit" me! The previous Saturday she surprised me with a visit, which put a big smile on my face considering how crappy I felt. We mainly watched hilarious videos on youtube but it was a good time all round.
Daniel's was on the Monday 6th of August, however we had his party the day before. Mostly we had his friends but a few of mine attended: mostly Katy, Andy and George. I wasn't drinking but all my mates, some of Daniel's, Daniel and mum got quite drunk, I gave Andy and Katy a lift home 'cos I was worried about them! It was a fun day and I got to see George, which I hadn't in a while, and a got a prezzie in a form of a bottle of Sake! Yay!
Andy is now back from Uni, but not without a few ups and downs.
He ended his first year uni with a blast, at his Summer Ball on the 16th June, unfortunetly this was the same day as my birthday. He was sweet to offer to spend my 19th with me, and even offered for me to come with him to his ball. However I was ill, and I wouldn't want Andy to miss his first end of year event. Plus his new band, Colt.44 were head linning. How cruel would I have been to say no?
His band seem to be progressing hugely and doing well. Their first EP has been recorded, (one song was written for me!) and he seems happy! He has had several gigs so far, I've only been able to attended one at the Rat and Parrot on Wednesday 15th, which didn't start till quite late so I feel quite tired and ill the next day, but I was glad that I was finally able to support him and he was over the moon I made the effort too. To hear Colt.44's stuff and to find out more info click here.
In addition, we've seen each other a few times, however since of my incident our time together hasn't been as I'd like it to be. We've had a few non-taxing dates, such as seeing the Simpsons movie, hanging out at his place and watching movies/playing video games. We celebrated our 2 and half year anniversary on 18th August, so yes despite our set backs I feel we are still holding hands and standing tall...which I know we will stay. We were meant to go on holiday at the end of June, but I had to cancel since I was not up for it, we plan to re-book it for the end of the year or early next year. So lots to look forward to despite our current situation!
Now for everyone's favourite bit, the review section!
This entry will mainly consist of movies, the two games I wish to review will hopefully be in my next entry (whenever that will be!)
I originally wasn't going to include the Studio Ghibli films I watched whilst I was ill, however "Tales of the Earthsea" is being released in cinemias on 4th August and thought it would be appropriate! To find out where it's showing and to view the trailer, see this main UK website: http://www.talesfromearthseamovie.co.uk/
Now onto the good stuff....

Summery: The lovable orge is back, looking after things in the castle of Far Far Away when his father-in-law gets sick and eventually dies, he is now heir to the throne. Frightened of commitment and royalty, he does not hesiste to seek out the next heir and make him King. Else where, Prince Charming is plotting his revenge and Fiona is pregant!
Like most children and people who like to feed their inner-child, I highly rate the first 2 movies and gladly added them to my DVD collection. The 3rd installment, though not as sparkling with wide audience appeal like its predesors, is a pleasently surprise addition to the Shrek series. Admittadly after reading reviews, I was expecting it to be a disappointment, but I wasn't in the slightest. Most reviewers commented that most jokes were aimed at adults, but that fail to make an impression on me as the theatre I went to see it in was filled with kids and they all laughed the afternoon away like I did!
One of the things that I was quite grateful for was Justin Timberlake's performance, no I don't like the guy but I know other people do which is why I was afraid that he was going to take the spotlight and *shudders* get a singing part. Surprisingly, and quite pleasently, he didn't do any of that! His character, Arthur, was major in the story but he didn't out-shine Shrek, and showed good acting abilities. Ok some of his lines towards the end where cheesy but with comical quotes from the other characters it worked well.
![]() The Number 23
Genre: Thriller, Suspense
Rating: 2/5
Summery: Walter Sparrow is happly married with a son and a occupation as a dog catcher. His life is completely changed when he discovers a book written by a detective who slowly becomes consumed by the number 23 and kills his wife. When Sparrow begins to see numerous connections between the book and his own life, the number 23 begins to consume him too.
For originallity and creating a high level of interest in the concept and promos, they achieve 5 out of 5 stars, however this movie does fall short of all expectations I had. Jim Carrey is known for picking characters that are highly comcial, or are mentally unstable - somethimes a bit of both. I'm not the biggest fan of Jim Carrey, as his sense of humour is more "loud and slapstick", which I'm not into all (however I do approve of 'Liar, Liar' and 'Bruce Almighty'). But still his input wasn't my main cause of concern, the way the character slips into madness over the number 23 happens a bit too swiftly to be believable. The ending was different, as it doesn't have a cheerful ending like most films do. If you easily get depressed over films or are not into the dark side of theatre, then stay clear. If you're a thriller fanatic and have high standard you're more likely to be sadned by this, the bottom line - I do not recommend this.
Fragile
Genre: Thriller/Horror
Rating: 3.5/5
Summery: In a Children's Ward Hospital in the Isle of Wight, a string of unusual occarances are taking place when children start being deported to other hospitals. Noises are heard from the abornded 2nd floor and children's bones are breaking when no accident has occurded. The night nurse decided to take leave to figure it all out, her replacement, Amy, takes over the night shift when she becomes weary of the mysterious presence too...
If you're more into the obvious kind of fright, such as gruesome scenes and 'jumping out of dark corners', this isn't the movie for you. All the suspense elements are handled subtly and build up as the film progress. There are quite a few unexpected twists (a welcome edition to the horror genre) and the story progress' at a natural speed, rather than rushing to the 'scary' parts in fear of losing it's audience.
There are a few flaws, mainly involved with the ending that made this film fail to make a decent impression. One incident involving one of the characters dying, her thigh is punctured with a small metal pole amongst the rubble in the hospital; within a few minutes she is hanging onto her life by a small thread. If she was stabbed in the liver/stomach, or had her throat scrapped I would understand why she might not survive since major arteries are in those areas and you can bleed internally as well as externally. However in the movie she was shown to be merely bleeding lightly, trickling mostly, I did not find it believable and found the portrayal too dramatic.
Also a usual element of kissing was involved towards the end that not only looked awkward but felt strange watching it. I won't go into detail who was involved as it will spoil the ending, and the kiss wasn't meant to be a sexual thing, however the characters involved, the meaning behind it - although original - was odd and uncomfortable. If your goal in life is to watch every horror/thriller film out there or are looking for something out of the ordinary, give this a go. Don't expect it to be a oscar-winning performance but it's worth a hire and the time.
Kiki's Delivery Service
Genre: Anime
Rating: 4/5
Summery: Kiki is a 13 year old witch-in-training from a small town in the country, by tradition all witches must spend a year away from home as part of her training. With nothing but her broom and her black sarcastic cat, she sets off into the boi scary world. Her only ability is to fly, so she starts her own delivery service to make her way into the world. But of course not everything in Kiki's world runs smoothly.
This film is delightful and really worth a watch, the animation is bright and colourful, the story is light-hearted but keeps even the most serious film viewers interested throughout. Kirsten Dunst does the voice of little Kiki, which I barely recongised, but she did a bloody good job! I also love the sarcastic black cat, who kept me laughing throughout. The cast is filled with lovable characters, the art is beautiful, so it's a must see!
Whisper of the Heart
Genre: Anime, Romance
Rating: 4/5
Summery: Shizuku Tsukishama is a 14 year old girl who loves to read fantasy books and fairy tales, despite her parents wanting her to concentrate on her studies more. One day, she follows a chubby cat into the city and meets a boy, who at first teases her, but through both of their dreams they build a tender realtionship.
I found this movie particuarlly interesting, simply because it's a Studio Ghibli film, and they are more known for producing fantasy based films, however this is more down to Earth and heartfelt. Even though the story revolves around the 2 children and their developing relationship, it is not dramatised to the extreme (like orchestraded music and kissing on screen), instead its nice to see the two trying to presue their own personal goals and hope that their futures interwine. Very believable, heartfelt and really worth a watch!
The Little Norse Prince
Genre: Anime
Rating: 2.5/5
Summery: As a baby, Horus was saved by his father from their burning northern village, after the village was attacked by a powerful demon. Several years pass, and on his deathbed the father bids Horus to return to his people. Horus goes on a journey and quickly finds a village plagued by a monster. After slaying the monster, he one day finds, in another ruined village, a cute girl, singing in a heavenly voice. He brings the girl to his new home, but soon finds that there was a good reason for her being alone in the wasteland...
This film was made back in 1968; making the film, particually in the visual department, very dated. The movement of the characters where awkward to watch frequently and the sound wasn't particuallary music to my ears. However, the storyline is well presented, long, somewhat childish in areas but I like the themes protrayed. The film did not rate well when it was first released but it's considered a 'land mark' in anime history, as is known as a 'Pre-Studio Ghibli' classic (as Hayao Miyazaki, director of most Studio Ghibli films, worked on this). The movie does start off slow but picks up half way through, the voice acting is well done and though I haven't rated it highly above, it is worth a look, but recommended for hire before purchasing.
Well that's the review section done for the entry, remember you can view more in my previous blog entries and on my amazon profile too. I hope my entry wil have better reviews, but let's now move onto the song!
This entry's song, "Be Your Girl" is from an anime I recently finished watching and loved: Elfen Lied. I've already posted the opening theme up here in a previous entry, but this song is quite rock-ish, easy to listen to and catchy. I loved the anime and want to read the manga badly, it's not avaliable in English yet, but I recommend all anime fans to see Elfen Lied. Also, the singer of this song is a actress on Sailor Moon Live Action series (which I also loved!), she was only a minor character but still, gotta love multi-talented people.
Enjoy! Lyrics provided by animelyrics.tv

When you think back on your daily routine when asked "are you busy?"; if you don't go out everyday, don't have an 'action pack weekend' and your work routine is the same each day - you don't think you are busy.
Yet it's been over 2 months since I've updated this, and loads has happened! I hardly know where to begin!
I do apologise for the lack of update: I have kept a draft that I have been updating regularly but been reluctant to post it for various reasons. Such as not 100% satisfied with the writing quality or purely laziness - but enough delay!
First of all, I've changed my layout, at first it was a nice light purple toned theme but for some reason my blod wouldn't show up in that theme. After contacting MSN they said it was because either my blog was too heavy with colour/html codes or the theme is too much. I liked my blog so the theme has change to a much simpler one. Entitled: Sunset...I think...
Next: my job.
It's been nearly 2 months now since I've started my new pernament position; my days are longer (only by an hour or so), I'm now paid monthly instead of weekly and I earn slightly more than before. It doesn't seem that way because of the huge amount of tax taken off but on paper it looks like I do. I'm slightly happier overall at my position, sure I don't do as much research, editing or production based tasks - but I work for Mark Francis directly and we get along very well. We have a laugh, he's good mates with my father and he talks guitar with my brother Daniel so it's inevitable really!
I'm admin based now, which has been good for me in some ways. I now have regular work everyday instead of waiting around for the producers to give me stuff. I realise the importance of paper work where's before I wasn't interested in it. I'm good at what I do since I finish it quite quickly and to a good standard. Plus when I do get opportunities to do production work (such as research is my collague's ill/on holiday and when Wakey! Wakey! studio dates are due) I appriciate it more.
Such as in the beginning of February, we did filming for the first time for Action Stations! Usually the show is purely short links with CGI robots provided with voiceovers introducing the next cartoon. But for half term we decided to film children and in-corprate them into the links with them either saying a joke, or introducing the next cartoon. It was quite a good experience, the parents seem to like me, I didn't think I was as impressive with the children - but most of them were quite shy and I couldn't get much out of them. But Amy seemed happy so all good.
Although at times I feel I haven't quite found my place within the office/employment world yet. Of course I'm inexperienced and don't expect decent results straight away, but sometimes I look upon some of my collagues who I see struggle at finding another job, or their current one and wonder if I'll end up that way - or if I'm not cut out for television. I mean I wish to experienced other types of media such as radio, film and music production. But the world isn't in the same light as I saw it many years ago. Compared to others I was extremely lucky to have got into GMTV, let alone a job!
Also; due to my regular routine being repeativitve and knowing that I haven't really accomplish any of the goals I set myself 2 entries ago back in December: I feel a bit lost at times. Like I could be a better person, I see my faults in a clearler light, or sometimes feel like I'm meant for something else. I'm not sure what needs to be done to fill this void; I like my job, I try to be a good person and I'm experimenting in fields that I haven't done so before (such as cooking and independant traveling) so I think some investigation is required. Or some actual accomplishment of my new year goals needs to be done! I'll figure it out somehow!
It's all part of the learning curve of life I presume. Growing from a moany, stroppy, spotty teenager to a broke, stressed and wrinkly adult! Oh how I look forward to it so.
Right what's next to cover? My personal life?
Well let's see...
Back in January, Saturday 7th, I had a mini 'anime fest' with Hannah and Amanda; Katy was invited as well but the poor dear was ill at the time. We watched a few episodes of 'You're Under Arrest' - a wacky anime filled with female cops with big attitudes and always seem to get into chaos. We then watched the wonders of Sailor Moon: the live action series, which proved to be very popular amoungst us! With the acting, the style and the bad subtitles we had a right laugh. Hannah wanted to borrow the DVD but I'm too attached to it, so I lent her Elfen Lied for now.
I even got a quick glimse at one of Hannah's books: "Once Upon a Dyke". A small book with a collection of fairy tales warped for the lesbian mind. I read a few pages and it seems quite well written, I liked the art on the book too! *wink*
I caught up with Hannah and Amanda, plus Katy once more on Saturday 3rd March; we went to the cinema in Charlton to watch Hot Fuzz; the movie was mostly contained of slapstick humour and random elements on a strange yet familar with other story lines. Admittedly it had a few funny/quick witted lines in, and it wasn't as bad as I dreaded it to be - but I wouldn't see it again. The meal was then followed by a lovely meal at the Japanese/Chinese resturant next door.
It was unbelievable travelling on the bus to Charlton: to see my old neighbourhood in a different light, not just because it was sunny outside but much seemed to have changed. The streets we travelled were once the roads my family and I reguarly driven and walked on. Now they are a distant memory, and unfamiliar compared to what they once were.
I also saw Katy the Friday before as she came up to visit me for lunch at work; we went to a Japanese restaurant thats located behind Waterloo train station. They serve decent food at a good price and the service is fast - we had sake and exchange items that were either borrowed for a huge length of time (on her part) or CDs that were compiled for each other. So she had her first experienced of Japanese food with moi, and its fantastic to see her! I'm also planning to visit her next weekend at her university in Cantubury, to see what the big fuss is all about!
Andy offically returned from uni on Friday 11th February and left again on Saturday 24th. However in the little time we saw each we had much to celebrate.
First off was our first Valentine's Day on Wednesday 14th; he came round in the evening, turning up all smartly dressed with roses and a card. My gift to him was a home cooked meal, (lamb shanks droused in rosemary and sage, as well as potatoes and parsnips) served with rose wine and soft chocolate cupcakes for dessert! I also gave him a card and wore a very elegant (yet difinate of my figure) outfit that proved to be popular...the picture isn't geat quality but I'm wearing the corset from the christmas party, a skirt that came witht he outfit and a pair fo black high heeled peep-toed shoes. Wearing high heels for the first time did hurt a little, but they didn't look too bad though. Would wear again on a nice occassion if needed but not on a regular basis - it's not me!
![]() Next it was Andy's 21st birthday, which was on Friday 2nd February, but due to his schedule and money situation he was unable to come home that weekend. So instead he had a wild drunkern weekend in Devon and then had a separate bash in London with his loved ones. We went to Chiquitose - a tapas resturant in London, Travafalgar Square on Friday 16th February. Andy's family, some of his university mates, his friends from home and me attended. It was a nice atmosphere, the food was good and a big busty blonde woman served tichila shots to the customers - what more could a birthday boy want!
And last but not least; on Sunday 18th February was our 2 year anniversary. We celebrated the whole weekend; started off with a meal at Aberdeen Angus in London, which I have mixed views about. We arrived at 6pm and was already crowded, despite offered a seat outside in the cold we waited for a table and had a menu to look at while queuing. Despite deciding in advance, it took a while fo rthe waiter to take our orders and for the food to arrive. This was not much appriciated since the table we were seated at had very little arm and leg room, was down stairs and cramped. The food was decent but I would not recommended returning when it's that busy again.
Our meal was followed by a quick browse around the local mall, which included a mini arcade and several stalls that sold loads of Chinese goods (since it was Chinese New Year). Andy got me a bracelet with a dragon on it since I was born on the year of the dragon, and himself a tiger bracelet.
Afterwards we saw the wonderful Avenue Q; which was just as joyful and funny as the first time we saw it, most characterisation and commical acts were inputted by the performers themselves. And the only actor that had changed since our first viewing was the girl who played Christmas Eve. We absouletly loved it, and will not hesistate to go again and recommend others to see it.
He stayed the night at my house, we mainly chilled for most of the day till late - the only thing we did note worthy was booked our holiday! We're offically going to Zakynthos in the last week of June, our first holiday abroad! As of 10th March it has been fully paid off so we both can't wait till June. Well the first 3 months of this year have gone so quickly I don't think it'll be long till then anyways!
The Friday 23rd, his last day in town, I went round to his place after work - sure we just spent time together but we had such a laugh, I was still smiling and giggling after I had gone home (which is an approvement from before where I usually get depressed).
His 2 weeks at home did us both good, emotionally and mentally. The next time I see him will only be for a week after I return from Florida but it's good to know that dispite the distance we are still happy and solid. Yay us! Hehe!
The day after Andy's departure, Saturday 24th February, I had a surprise visit from George and Oliver!
Me and George originally texted each other the day before to arrange to meet up, we only went out for a quick bite to eat in the end but the nice surprise is that I saw Oli, who I haven't seen since summer. It was great to see them doing well and keeping healthy, my dad through a fit when he discovered Oli had been at our house (he's never met him but he's very against the whole 'goth' image and abusive language in public thing) but he's my friend and it's my house so his opinion doesn't really count in my world.
I think that's all covered in the update of my life - apart from the fact that I'm soon heading off to Florida for two weeks, I'm visiting Katy in Canturbury before that and I have new glasses! Quite snaazy ones too, however they are a little too heavy and put a lot of pressue on the top of my nose - therefore creating an unwanted mark.
Also; my mother has started a new home business, selling products for a company called “Herbalife”. A healthy food technology company and weight loss programme; more information about the company can be found here
Basically you replace the 2 smallest daily meals with a formula shake that gives you all the nutrients that your body needs and adds protein to stop hunger. They come in 6 different flavours. The company also sells multi-vitamins, plus detox tea and protein bars are also available for in between. The 3rd meal of the day is whatever you desire. You are guaranteed to lose weight and inches off your body - no additional exercise is required. They also produce beauty and health products. My mother is currently testing the product on herself; after 1 week she lost 19cm of her stomach, hips and thighs – and that’s with 2 portions of chips during the course of the week. She is now on her 3rd week and lots of people have commented on her new slimmer appearance. More information on the weight loss scheme plus ordering of products go through her, she does work full time but she’ll be happy to call you at your most convenient time and help with any questions you have. If you know anyone who might be interested, please let her know. If you would like her contact details feel free to ask me! The only other thing that has occupied my life is, sadly to you but not to me, is my Playstation and the latest installment to the Final Fantasy series; Final Fantasy 12!!! I was planning to type up a review for the game right about now, but I wasn't happy with the quality of it. I haven't completed it yet due to getting home late from work recently, plus covering for a collagues whose on holiday at the moment. It was the review that was mainly the cause for the delay of this blog, so I'll paste it into a later entry when I can give an impressive and detailed review...
For now, I've decided to do mini reviews on certain TV programmes that have recently started airing or made a comeback to our television screens. Since I watch several series, hopefully one of the below may interest you...
![]() Title: Nip/Tuck
Genre: Drama
Channel: Sky One (Saturdays 10pm), Sky Three (Tuesdays 11pm)
Rating: 4/5
We live in a reality where beauty, and the money to create it, makes the world go round; and the two greatest plastic surgeons in Miami: Sean McNamara and Christian Troy are known for bringing perfection into many lives. They earn their living creating a race of picture perfect individuals; however not every customer has the same motives as everyone else. And beauty always comes with a price...
This is a very graphical series; every single surgry that is performed, you see in every detail - nothing is left unturned. And Christian Troy is known for a being a 'woman-isr' so many of his sexual activities are widely shown - making it the closest thing to pornagraphy without it being it. Though it's not something to watch over dinner; this series is full of plot twist, deeply dark untones and brillant characters. The script is wonderfully done, it's full of orignal storylines and well thought of quick witted lines thoughout.
Many well-known actors appear on this series and is not to be missed for those who like to see the darker and twsted side of reality.
The first three series are avaliable on DVD, while the 4th series is currently showing on Sky One.
![]() Title: Desperate Housewives
Genre: Drama, Comedy, Soap Opera?
Channel: E4, Channel 4
Rating: 4/5
Welcome to Wisteria Lane; where the most loving wives, devoted husbands, troublesome children and ill minded murderers gather for a wonderfully compsed series full of twist, turns and random elements that make this program so loveable.
Though the series focus' mainly on the housewives, many storylines involved attracted viewers of all shapes and sizes. All households within the series show a different family inside, allowing each viewer to recongise their own living situations within the programme.
The series is narrated by a housewive who commits suicide at the beginning of the first episode, and is the voice that follows the viewers through, and provides thoughful and deep speeches on life's lessons related to that episode at the end of it.
Though the series contains many random visitors (such as mass murders, mentally troubled indiviuals and paedophiles), and storylines that most likely never occur so frequently on one street in America. The series also highlights the troubles that families face in their everyday lives. Such as parents coping with their children having sex for the first time or a death of a loved one.
The first two seasons are avaliable on DVD while season 3 is currently airing on E4 and Channel 4.
![]() Title: Heroes
Genre: Drama, Science Fiction
Channel: Sci-Fi Channel
Rating: 5/5
Imagine being able to fly, teleport or freeze time; would you conisder it a gift ro a curse? Would it be used for good or evil or personal gain?
Twelve remarkable individuals discover that they have gifts beyond imagination, but unlike Superman and Wonderwoman - this isn't a comic book. They are alone in this world to face the evils that threaten to harm them, and the world as they know it.
This programme takes the superhero genre and elevates it into the next level; this series has a dark undertone that many comic book legends are have yet or afraid to explore. As each person discovers their powers not alone must they fight against the clock to save the world but their own demons, and everyone's powers comes with a price. Such as the artist in the series, who can see into the future - but can only do so when he's high on heroine...
Each character are from all parts of the world, and yet all connect together to create one fantastic and gripping series. All of them provide a different element into the story and protray multiple walks of life. Such as Claire Bennet; an American cheerleader who not only deals with her own teenage traumas but the near-death experiences her powers bring upon her. And the Japanese duo: Hiro Nakamura & Ando Masahashi, who bring in the comical elements into the series and make numberous references to Star Trek.
The first series is currently running on thee Sci-Fi channel, it can also be viewed on youtube.com apprently but I have yet to find it since many other series with the title "Heroes" in it from around the glode are posted on their too. If I ever find it I'll post it here.
![]() Title: Ugly Betty
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Channel: E4, Channel 4 (Friday 9pm)
Rating: 4/5
Betty is an attractive, intelligent, warm hearted and confident graduate who dreams of making a career in magazine business. When she is hired by the boss' father of MODE magazine (simply because he didn't want his son casually having sex with his secritary anymore), though she is dis-hearted by the more attractive yet bitchy collagues at America's top fashion magazine; she wins the hearts of many and works together with the newly employed boss: Daniel Meade.
At first glance at the promo for this programme: I wasn't so sure I would enjoy this series since I am not fashion fan. However though it and the magazine centers around fashion the series completely takes everything relating to fashion to the extreme that it takes the piss out of itself! The series has a colourful cast of characters, the scripts are heartful & smartly done, and it's also realistic.
Many programs related to such subject see a 'ugly' character come in, gets humiliated, says a great speech towards the end that makes all the fashion worships 'see the light' and decide not to be so wrapped up in it. This program doesn't do that, it sticks to it's guns and create a laugh while doing so. It's a lovely light-hearted programme that great to watch on a friday evening!
The frist series is currently broadcasting on E4/Channel 4.
Alright!
Now it's sing-a-long time!!
Right - I was at a complete loss to find a song that sort fo relates to anything I've just being typing up! The only thing I could find the link to or that I could legeally post on my site (and hopefully not stop playing abruptly like before) is this.
Yes, this is a Utada song, but it's a feel good song - the reason behind this choice is the sudden apperance of the beautiful sunshine recently - the sunshine seems to bring out smiles out fo everyone I see at the moment. Walking underneath the glorious sunlight brings out the best in most people I believe - its a welcoming feeling. This song is for the game Kingdom Hearts (the first one), and the lyrics and melody are very melow and heart warming. Here are the lyrics:

When you walk away
You don't hear me say please Oh baby, don't go Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight You're giving me too many things
Lately you're all I need You smiled at me and said, Don't get me wrong I love you But does that mean I have to meet your father? When we are older you'll understand What I meant when I said "No, I don't think life is quite that simple"
When you walk away You don't hear me say please Oh baby, don't go Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight It's hard to let it go The daily things that keep us all busy Are confusing me That's when you came to me and said, Wish I could prove I love you But does that mean I have to walk on water? When we are older you'll understand It's enough when I say so And maybe some things are that simple When you walk away You don't hear me say please Oh baby, don't go Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight It's hard to let it go Hold me Whatever lies beyond this morning Is a little later on Regardless of warnings the future doesn't scare me at all Nothing's like before When you walk away
You don't hear me say please Oh baby, don't go Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight It's hard to let it go Hold me
Whatever lies beyond this morning Is a little later on Regardless of warnings the future doesn't scare me at all Nothing's like before This is me, until I return from Florida, over and out, thanks for reading! January 06 A New JourneyHello All.
And Welcome to 2007!
I originally wanted to post this blog before the end of 2006, but tiredness and laziness got the better of me.
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas Eve/Day/Boxing Day/New Years Eve/New Years Day...you know the drill! Did everyone got what they wanted from Father Christmas and get drunk on New Years?
This Christmas holiday was quite pleasent for me, it was nice finishing work and relaxing for a change, and seeing people without feeling the need to rush it, since they weren't returning to uni for a few weeks.
Did anyone find it difficult getting into the Christmas Spirit?
It seemed to be a common trait amongst my family and friends. Not sure whether it was just that mood of the year or events that had occured at the same time, but I didn't start to get that 'feeling' till pretty much Christmas Eve.
I mean I got stuck in christmas shopping madness traffic on the way to bluewater, I sent out and recieved Xmas cards, I put up the decorations in my house, I walked amously around shops for presents, I attended Xmas parties and dinners, I even wore bloody antlers - yet the spirit of christmas only graced it presence on Xmas eve whilst helping my mother make a home made lemon cheesecake from scratch (which was very nice!).
Whether it was the knowledge that Christmas Day was the following day, or that my loved ones were coming over, or simply just spending time with my family that got me all 'giggy' inside about opening presents the next day. Maybe it's age? Maybe it's work? Maybe it's just 2006 itself - who knows?
It was the same sort of situation on New Years actually.
I felt BUGGER ALL on New Years eve, I got invited to like 3 different events, and I barely made up my mind at the last minute. I didn't feel like it was approching 2007 at all. Is it just me?
Well I guess it doesn't matter anymore - I'm back at work now and occurding to my horoscope in the daily mail - big things are coming my way. Well actually it said that what I wish to complish for my future will be do-able this year...and the daily mail horoscopes have been freakishly right before. We'll just have to see!
This entry will mainly be a brief on my last week of 2007 and 2006 - but luckily I've included a few reviews of some of my presents further down so you shouldn't get too bored...
On Friday 22nd, I briefly met up with Katy at the Broadway to catch the bus to Bluewater (despite the christmas rush) and have a nice meal. We were delayed in meeting up due to her being late getting back from Bromely, and it was a nice meal at Amoy (a very nice chinese resturant in Bluewater) however I don't think I was much company. Sure we had our laughs as always, but she had a few worries on her mind that she confessed to, and wanted to say something that would make her feel better, but I don't think I did. I was quite tired that day so I don't think I was much company....oh well.
But I managed to see her additionally on 2 more occasions: New Years Eve/Day and 6th Jan for Sophie's (her sister's) birthday.
She invited me to a New Years party held by her friend Joe - who's 18th I attended last year (which was a blast) and he attended mine (which was better...haha!). To be honest it wasn't as lively as I expected, due to the fact that some people there I'm not fond of - and they're not fond of me as I heard afterwards that Dave kept calling me a Cunt which upsetted Katy. (But I was grateful that she stood up for me)
Also: a couple who had recently broken up before the party were present that evening; after alcohol consumption the upset male locked himself in the bathroom to cry and got plenty of attention from his female friends who tried to confort him. The other half was asked several times the reason of the break up and eventually both of them disappeared into the night before the 2007 countdown.
I found out on the saturday afterwards that after I left (12:15pm-ish) a gang chavs (who were friends of a boyfriend as a guest at the party) came in and practically ruined the evening. Taking the piss of goths and gingers, being rude, taking all the alcohol....I think you get the drill!
Sophie's birthday was a surprise invitation. Katy texted me the night before asking me to meet her at bluewater near tooties, without knowledge of why. But we had a nice meal, despite the poor paddy pez being ill, I had loads to eat which was quite surprising since I had a big breakfast before I attended - so I was quite chuffed with myself!
As I mentioned above I made a cheesecake on Christmas eve, mainly to prepare for Xmas day where we were planning on spending dinner at dad's house and thought it would be nice to bring something as a token of our appriciation. We also made a raspberry trifle, as well as prepared lots of food for our guests to arrive.
We held a small get-to-gether for mine, daniel's and mum's friends. Sadly for my bro and mum: mine only turned up. Andy, Katy and Hannah happily exchanged presents, ate our delicious food, drank our mulled wine and champagne and then bugger off to their own families at roughly 10pm. Dad, Miranda and the boys made their apprenance too as well as Andy's parents. It was a nice atmosphere and I think everyone had a good time.
What amazed me the most was that my 2 youngest brothers actually got on well with Andy!
When they all attended my birthday party, Robbie and Oliver were giving Andy the most flithest looks! I guess they weren't fond of this strange man holding and kissing their older sister....but on Xmas eve they played ball together and even called him by his name! (Which is a big accomplishment), they now refer to him as my boyfriend and even know how old he is (which Andy was touched by).
On Friday 29th, not much occurded but my mum's friend and collague Lynn spent some time with the Hughes family with a nice lunch at the Beefeater not too far from where I live.
Lynn's husband was the care-taker fo mum's school, and unfortunetly died of cancer fo the liver a few months ago. He was beloved by al the teachers and student of Barnes Cray school, and of course it's been hard for her. But Mum decided to treat her to lunch, it was quite pleasent considering that I had bad feelings of it beforehand - nothing towards her I just thought I wouldn' be much company since I didn't know her well. But we chatted, had wine, laughed and for invited round hers for dinner in the near future.
In the built up to Andy's leaving for uni again on Saturday 6th, we've been seeing each other quite frequently.
As well as his and his parent's company on Christmas Eve; we exchanged presents on Boxing Day round his place. I got him Family Guy Season 2, Prison Break Season 1, Lamb of God newest album, Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack (the special American addition) and a neon pub sign of the logo of his favourite band: Korn. Which he practically was amazed at, he hung it on his wall and put it on as soon as he opened it. I recieved Charmed Season 3 that day as well as white gold earrings and Princess Ai manga on Christmas day. I'm so glad he loved his presents since I considered him hard to get while trawling around bloody shopping centers and e-mailing countless times to amazon to make sure they arrived on time!
On Thursday 28th, despite Andy being a bit ill we paid a visit to our dear old friend by the name of Camden. We were only there a couple of hours, but we got several items for outselves - such as my military styled coat and Andy's chinese-y pyjamas. I also got a quick but pleasent visit from my dear friend George! He came round before he went to visit his mother for dinner to say hi and drop over a bottle of wine/Xmas card. His hair is getting long now! And it's good to see that he's well, since I don't chat to him online or via myspace anymore these days...glad to hear that him and Louise are still going strong too!
On the Saturday 30th; Andy came round mine for dinner and we went to the travel agency, we plan to go on holiday abroad for the first time in June/July period. We loved being in Center Parcs, but that was only a weekend break. This time we plan to go for a week, either in Spain or Greece. We've seen some lovely places, but can't really make a decision till Andy finds out when he finishes Uni for the year. Also that day we tested out Daniel's chocolate fountain! He recieved it as an Xmas present from mum, it wasn't as successful or as visually appealing as the diagram on the box, but the boys thought the chocolatty goodness was lovely when combined with doughnuts!
Thursday 4th had the regular visit to the Rat and Parrot: which wasn't as enjoyable as the Xmas party or previous visits. But it was cool, apart from one of the friends I made at the Xmas party didn't remember me....doh! Andy stayed for dinner too and played a bit of Goldeneye with my brother on the Nintendo 64 (yes we still have it!).
The night before Andy's departure; we met after work on Friday 5th at the Megabowl in Bexleyheath. Got lost on the way despite it being 5 minutes drive away from my place since I wasn't looking in the right direction - drove past Andy about 3 times! - but we had a quick game of bowling, which he won. Well he used to be the under-16s championship, and I only lost by 5 pins so really I can't complain! We then played air hockey (which I DID win - yay!) and then Mario Kart, which was colourful fun! Then head over for some bloody fun on House of Dead 4.
We then headed back to his place for some private time, I eventually left at half 10. It was easier to say goodbye this time round, helps with the knowledge that he's returning for his 21st birthday bash in 3 weeks time. I miss him already like crazy and I only saw him 24 hours ago...I'm silly I know!
Christmas Day was a great day, quite relaxing and made me spend more time with my family (including Dad's) than I have in a long time.
The morning typically consists of opening presents, however not-so-typically we all went to Brian's house for dinner. We brought along the cheesecake and a triffle for dessert (no one died after eating it so I presume it was a success). We exchanged more presents along with champagne, we eventually got a cab home.
I got some wonderful gifts on Xmas day, quite a few surprises and little gifts that I never would have thought of. From my mother I recieved some beautifully hand-crafted Japanese dolls called: Kokeshi. They are made from chestnut, cherry, dogwood and Keyaki. They are gorgeous and they have a nice place to call home within my bedroom.
The taller one is called: Tsujigahana, which is Japanese for Treasured Kimono, the smaller one is named: Nintai which means Patience. All of the dolls are named after the person who created them. They are from Gallery gifts, but these 2 are mine! Got it????!
My favourite present from my brother Daniel was my SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG PS2 CONTROLLER!!!
It was beautifully package in a red and black dome, the artwork on the controller is flawless, came with a little booklet and is actually smaller (controller and analog stick size wise) than a PS2 controller. Sort of felt like a Gamecube controller without the extra buttons. And I'm the only one allowed to use it!!! IT'S ALL MINE!!!!!!!
I got other lovely gifts too such as loads of DVD series such as Buffy, Angel, Charmed, Nightwish concert and Sailor Moon Live Action! Several books (manga), a CD and oriental sweeties amoungst the other chocolate that piling up in our kitchen...
Because I like wiriting reviews, I thought I would reviews on a few other items I recieved from my friends and family. Three items below only have mini reviews while the game I got from mum is much longer and detailed further down. I've written it this way 'cos...well....I wanted to! Ha!
Title: Death Note (Manga Vol.1)
Present From: Katy
Genre: Supernatural, Drama, Mystery
Rating: 5/5
Summery: Light Yagami is a brilliant, but bored, high school student who undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground in the year 2003. The Death Note's instructions claim that, if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the Death Note's authenticity, believing it is just a prank. However, after experimenting with it and killing two criminals, Light is forced to admit the Death Note is real. After meeting with the true owner of the Death Note, a Shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the new world" by passing his judgement on criminals. However his actions are soon been chased by the police, the FBI and a mysterious man by the name of 'L'.

Katy made a big deal out of this series a few months ago while she was at uni, I wasn’t so sure what it was about but after the first few pages I was hooked!
When you read an manga book or watch an anime that has 'smart' characters in them, you don't tend to see their potential - or they don't get opportunities to shine since the common trait for main characters is naiveness, lack of intelligence and/or high popularity. However Light is EXTREMELY well presented in this series, all the plans that he comes up with to use the death note, to hide it, to lure the police or to throw them off the scent of him being a suspect are amazing! Everthing is explained throughourly and nothing is left in shadow.
It's also interesing to see how slowly Light begins to show signs of madness; the action of ridding the world of evil people sounds like a good deed but in another light it's wrong to murder. Light at first seems innocent and pure in his actions but then eventually begins to show signs of corruption, and the mysterious 'L' shows his own kind of intelligence that matches Light's.
The art is very different to what I normally view and wonderfully done, the characters are very believable and the storyline is 100% gripping. No ‘anime’ or ‘manga’ fan should call themselves that until they have fest their eyes on this!
If you are unconvinced of it’s cult following, there is currently an anime series, a novel, several computer games and 2 live action movies (3rd in production) based upon this masterpiece…
Title: Princess Ai (Manga Vol.1) Summery: A mysterious beautiful blonde girl falls to Tokyo with no memory of her past or where she belongs. All she has is her name and her heart shaped box, fate intervenes when she meets Kent – a handsome student who provides her shelter, and eventually ends up with a recording contract after performing at Club Cupid. However while trying to uncover her lost memories – evil forces are set on disposing her for good… The manga is co-created by Courtney Love: from hearing that info you’re most likely to feel a shiver down your back…and not in a good way. It’s the kind of manga you wish to hate, but it’s not bad.
Sure it’s not perfect; there are a few kinks in the story, such as the main character: Ai discovering her memories a little bit too rapidly to be believable. And her name is Ai, and she’s from Ai-Land….? If I started going around saying I’m from Sarah-Land, people would think I’m on speed or something.
But the art work is beautifully done, Ai’s costumes are to die for (I WANT THEM!!!) and music fans will see a few resemblances to Nirvana such as Ai’s heart shaped box and her love interest: Kent looks very much like Courtney’s late husband: Kurt Cobain. There are a few humorous moments, lovely lyrics provided within the text and it’s a respectable manga.
There are 3 volumes in total, and it’s being made into a live action movie…so they must have done something right! It’s one to check out.
Title: Paranoia Agent DVD Box Set
Present From: Mum
Genre: Paranormal, Psychological, Horror, Thriller
Rating: 4/5
Summery: In Musashino, Tokyo: a mysterious boy in a baseball cap, golden baseball bat and rollerblades known as ‘Lil Slugger’ is terrorising innocent citizens of all age and professions. Police are hot on his trail and to discovering his identity, but amongst the fear and paranoia – the true colours of citizens are being revealed and the darkest secrets of lil slugger’s victums begin to take hold of people’s sanity.
More Info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranoia_agent
I watched the first DVD about 6 months ago and was very impressed by it, and got bored of waiting for Katy to buy the 2nd dvd so I asked for it for christmas.
The anime starts of with a simple format and detectives trying to solve the mystery of a young lad terrorising innocents, however half way through you begin to realise there are far more layers to the story and other forces are in play. Reminds me of Evangelon in a way: the first half of the series reflects as a young boy saving the world from evil forces with his giant robot, however deep levels of psychology jump in and opens so many doors and raises loads of questions.
The first 4 episodes tell 4 different stories of people who are connected to lil slugger in some way; the story opens up with a character designer named Tsukiko Sagi, then moves onto an young achool boy, then a woman suffering from identity disorder and then a detective. Paranoia Agent reaches many levels and types of people in the world.
I have not watched the entire series but from what I've seen so far and the synopsis I've read on the internet - It's only going to get better!
And now it's time for the BIG one.......
Title: The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
Platform: DS, GBA, PS2, Xbox & Gamecube
Featuring: Eiljah Wood, David Spade, Cree Summer and Gary Oldman
Genre: Action, Platform
Rating: 3.5/5
Spyro is no ordinary dragon: he may breath fire and be leathal, but how many dragons do you know that are purple and can't fly (well)?
The story of Spyro began on the first playstation, introduced as a game suitable for young ages. The game had a simple concept of collecting mindless numbers of jewels, rescuing dragons and defeating enemies that were more of a laugh than a threat. As well as multiple colourful levels with different styles of gameplay (including time trials, flying and bosses), cheerful catchy music and puzzle solving. He warmed the hearts of children and thoses who long for the simple side of gaming, and is a family favourite with many homes including my own.
Since 1998 Spyro has grown and developed from the PS1, to the PS2, the gameboy and eventually other consoles such as the Xbox. With a total of 6 games in the series so far, (as well as several cross-over games) most of them contained the same child-like sustance and repeatitive game play.
But 2006 saw Spyro in a new light - though the game was originally advertise as the prequal to the original PS1 game, Spyro's life and history has been reborn from scratch into a new world of gaming...with mixed results...
The story begins inside a dragon temple, destroyed by a mysterious evil force who has broken into it to destory all the newly born dragon eggs. However a dragon named Ignitus escapes with the last one and rests it upon a river, hoping it'll float to safety. From the egg hatches Spyro, who eventually grows up in the home of the dragonflys alongside his 'brother' - Sparx. Several years later, after discovering that he himself is not a dragonfly, he decides to set out to find the secrets of his past. Only to find that an evil female black dragon by the name of Cynder is planning to bring the destruction of the world...
From the brief synopsis above you can guess that the game itself is slightly darker than the rest of the series: the nature of the characters, the music and the enemies you face contribute to the 'darken' state of the story. Putting the idea that Spyro as a 'purple dragon' is destined to go great things and save the dragon race. Though it is not always a bad thing to try something different or alter an old character to modernise it, the whole 'chosen one' genre is very overused these days. In games, movies, television and books; it's the idea that first puts the most serious gamers off this title at first. However it does have more to offer.
Unlike the previous games, 'The Legend of Spyro' adds more action based gameplay to the storyline. The previous games mostly had Spyro only capable of charging and breathing flames upon his victims. However the latest game evolves Spyro's powers and allows the player to be more creative in battle.
Spyro can now mulipulate the 4 elements: fire, ice, electricity and earth; all with their own special affects and advantages. He is also able to use melee attacks (both air bourne and grounded) in order to perform combos to inflict heavy damage upon the monsters found within the game.
Each 'element' has it own special attack (as well as the standard breath attack) which is activated by the appropriate button. For example; if Spyro is using fire, he can shoot a bomb that explodes upon contact and deals damage to those who are within range. While electricity creates a cage that hovers the enemy into the air - making them vunerable to Spyro's air melee attacks whilst they are still being electricuted.
Within the pause menu you are also able to 'upgrade' each attack to increase it's power and it's attack range, making bosses and common enemies much easier to vanquish.
The biggest addition combat wise is Spyro new 'Fury' attack. Activiated when Spyro's fury bar is full, it unleashes a devastating attack that deals damage to all surrounding enemies within range.
From the start of the Spyro series: jewels have remain a essential part of this gaming series. Though lying around and not necessary to building up Spyro as a character, they served as a currency at times and means to moving onto the next stage of the game. And were important if the player wished to complete the Spyro game 100%.
The jewels return in his latest game but are alterted in importancy: they are categorised into 4 groups, separated in colour and what purpose they serve. The red jewels helped recover Spyro's health bar (found at the top left hand corner), the green jewels served as 'mana' (in RPG terms) allowing Spyro to consistantly use his elemental powers as long as green bar was full (found under the health bar). The purple jewels fill up Spyro's fury bar and the blue jewels serve as 'experience' - allowing Spyro to upgrade his powers via the pause menu. Since Spyro's history has been redone from scratch, many of the lovable characters (such as Gnasty Gnorc, Hunter and Ripto) are no longer part of Spyro's legacy. The only character other that remains consistant throughout the Spyro series is Sprax - the purple dragon's faithful dragonfly compainion.
In the previous games, Sparx had no voice (apart from a high pitched squeak) and played a slightly bigger part than he now has in the latest Spyro addition. He was capable of pointing Spyro towards valuable treasure (using the right button combo), collecting nearby jewels, and eventually - by the 3rd Spyro game - got his own levels and powers. He also played as a 'health' meter to Spyro, when he was gold Spyro was at full health. As Spyro loses health: Sparx changes colour until he vanishes.
However even though in this game he gains a voice, a personality and quick-wit: he no longers plays a vital part in the main gameplay. Though he helps Spyro by pointing towards his next destination: he is no more than the donkey is to Shrek. He provides the comedy in the storyline, provided sarcasm, pointing out the obvious and pretty much saying what most players would say in that particular situation. He has his good moments and provides a laugh at the darkest moments of the game, it's a shame though that some of his old elements were not kept in the new addition.
Another common ground this game shares with its precedsors is the repeatitive gameplay.
Though their are 6 different environments to explore: they are all basically the same format (walk, kill, walk, kill) apart from one or two simple puzzles to divide them from each other. The enemies are the same throughout the game, the 'monkey' like monsters simply change colour and grow stronger as you progress during the game. However with the upgrades of breaths they do become very easily to elimenate, as do the bosses too. This can grow tiresome as the same 'monkey sounds' are made when injured or killed, making me want to press mute quite oftenly. Since the music is more atmospheric than comical or noticable, not alot sound wise is to be credited for.
Despite the upgrades and variations of combat: there are many situations where Spyro is severally out numbered, making the newest of game players feel heavy handed. Though death can be common at first, there's infinite lifes and continues. However the lack of saving opportunities can lead to players growing frustrated before they reached the next saving point in order to spare them going through the aggrivation once again.
There were also little kinks that were easily fixable or avoidable: yet ignored.
Such as the swift change into cut scenes during battle: just as you finish certain battles you are immeditatly taken into the next part of the world and unable to return to collect any left over jewels or finish off the enemies you left behind. A simple fade out after the last enemy is destroyed would be more smoother rather than a slap-bang into the cut scene.
Also; when talking, Spyro constantly using his 'claws' (or his front legs) during his speech patterns and using them as humans use their hands whilst talking. I found this slightly irritating and out of character as a dragon. Elijah Wood performed well as Spyro and the facial features were enough to empathise the emotions of Spyro - hand gestures were uneeded and looked careless.
The game's life span is extremely short and not much re-play factor is involved compared to its precesors. No extras or unlockables are avaliable, you cannot return to previously visited levels and the game could've easily been padded out with more levels. Such as 'flying' in between worlds, and hidden missions within the other worlds. Its such a shame since the graphics were top notch, the surroundings of each world are beautiful protrayed, the powers are presented nicely and when compared to the other games in size - this game doesn't hold a candle.
If you are a long lover of Spyro & his repeatiitve gaming ways, and refuse to see a darker, more combat style to him - then gives game a miss. If you are looking for a more intense hard-core action and violence game - this ain't for you neither.
However if you are willing to experiment a new side to Spyro or wish to try something a little different compared to your current game collection - it wouldn't hurt to hire this out and give it a go!
Before I introduce this blog's theme song, I apologise for the song for my previous entry 'Billy Mack' to cut out suddenly. (It worked at first, must of changed the orignal link).
Orignally I was planning to paste a song form the Live Action series of Sailor Moon - it would've been a very chirpy japanese pop track, but I decided against it eventually.
Now I've got up a song composition from a track of the original soundtrack of a game from the Sega Genesis: Phantasy Star 3.
The album: Segarock Volume 1 was released in Japan in 2004. It contained many classic tracks from the Sega Genesis games and remixed them with a very cool guitar players. It's quite up tempo and think it kicks off 2007 quite well.
If you wish to know more about the game it originally comes from then explore my review entry here.

This is me, facing the start of 2007, over and out. X December 22 Tis the SeasonWell.
The weather is getting colder, gloves and scarves are coming out, online shops are filled with orders, the homes are light up with multicoloured lights, London's streets are barely walkable with too many buzzing shoppers and many bank accounts are suffering by the minute - that's right it's christmas rearing it's jolly head again. And it's come quite quickly too, and thankfully for that I have finished work for the year!
How is everyone lately?
No one comments this thing anymore...oh well. Good things come to those who wait. But seriously, everyone looking forward to christmas/new year/returning to work uni or school in a few weeks time? Or are you dreading it?
I start my new 6-month contract when I return to work on 2nd January 2007, and boy has the year gone quick! Doesn't feel too long ago that I typed my 'happy new year' blog for the start of 2006. Well I've grown a lot from the past year. As I'm sure has alot of people.
I've had a big baggage of great, happy and sad memories from this year.
I've developed a lot as a person within this past year, I'm sure where I'm heading in my life at the moment, or what I have in store in the next few months - but I plan to accomplish the following within 2007:
I understand that this whole 'discovering myself' & 'self evaluation' phase and all this crap is quite common in my blogs at the moment. Sometimes I laugh at myself and wonder what made me type it up in the first place. But I presume everyone goes through this at some points in their lives. Maybe not in a blog, maybe not as deep in thought. But I want to look back at what I've written about myself, and see how people reaction to me has changed over the passing time, and say that I've accomplished something. Besides: new year is approaching, if you can reflect that past year at the end of it when can you? Such as my personal life: The following Sunday (10th) I saw my dear friend Landa. I hadn't seen her since new years and missed her terribly. We've been meaning to meet up for ages, so it was good to see her again and see that she is coping well at Uni. We mainly chatted, complimented the christmas decorations, played briefly on the sega mega drive (well I did, she admired from a distance) and enjoyed each other company. It's wonderful to hear her and her family are healthy and well. I'll diffiently make more time for her next year.
On Friday 15th was the infamous GMTV Christmas party...it wasn't as great as others made it to be.
The area was in the "Playhouse" on Air Street (off Regent Street). The place was dimmed in lighting, filled with leather sofas and chairs with zebra and leopard skins, plus glass tables filled with candles and rose petals. They served champagne, wine and strawberry cocktails...My first reaction to the place was: Bachelor pad! I was half expected to see a pole in the middle of the dance floor!
I wasn't completely comfortable within my surroundings. I wore a smart jacket and trousers that emphised my 'accests', my collague put mascara on me - which I was NOT comfortable in - and it took ages to get there due to traffic and people taking time to decide on which car to take.
Basically I felt uncomfortable since most of the people I spoke to I see pretty much every working day, and even then it's only small talk. There's about 2, maybe 3 that I know personally, and fewer than that who know me personally. And even then one of them didn't make face. Everyone kept saying that people get more conversational when drunk, but I wasn't drinking myself, and left after the raffle (9:30pm ish). Maybe it didn't help that my mind was in other places at the time.
But to be honest I enjoyed the Chrismas lunch more, which was the Monday after (18th).
We had it upstairs in the Mullberry Bush pub (outside the London Television Centre), the food was rather pleasent, the company wasn't bad and we also had secret santa!
I had Billie Agates: one of the collagues I socialise (and scare the fuck out of) within the office. Only 2 years older than me, we tend to take the piss out of each other every now and then. I got her a mini Mario game (she is a fan of the original version). I got it from BHS, it only a black and white cheap gameboy key ring: but she keeps it hanging with her keys now so I must've done something right!
I also got her a white chocolate bar, which had 'dents' in it to form a picture of a naked woman (she's a lesbian you see...), and if you held the bar up against the light, the picture becomes 3D and looks rather effective. It proved to be popular at the lunch so go me! Haha!
I got Pretty Woman on DVD...a piss take but I like it never-the-less
About a month ago a collague was doing research on movies and asked all the females within our office to e-mail her their top 20 favourite films. Most of them chose the likes of Grease and Pretty Woman. Typical me: I had Kill Bill, Battle Royale, Team America, South Park the movie and all that crap! When they asked if I liked Pretty Woman I said: "Fuck no! Sod that romantic crap!". So I guess it was quite amusing that Becky Bourne got me that film on DVD...wonder how much I can sell it on ebay for? Haha!
Now let's move away from work.....
Andy is back in town!
Just in time for some christmas cheer, it's now been 22 months since we first got together. And the time will just keep on growing...
I saw him on Saturday 16th; the visit wasn't so pleasent at first, we had a few things we had to get off our chest and things that were left up in the air that was previously ignored. But after alot of talking we're better than ever. We've had a few struggles along the way, since he left for uni, but I know from the past few months, we can bring forward our strengths and through the next 3 years. "It's a piece of piss" as Andy would say! But for now, we're enjoying the time we have together over the festive period.
We didn't do much (outside of his bedroom) on saturday, until 6pm when we went back to mine to "babysit" my bro Daniel. OK he's 15 years old and doesn't need a childminder but mum went out for the evening with her friends and didn't want Daniel alone on a saturday night. We got a kebab (I drove and didn't kill anyone...YAY!) and watched a few episodes of South Park together. Andy and Daniel then jammed in the front room for a while until we all played the sega mega drive until mum came home.
I saw him again on Monday 18th (on our actual 22month anniversary) after the xmas lunch: amoungst the pilliow talk and passion between us we also checked out some broachures for holidays to Spain next year. We saw some really beautiful places, some with wonderful huge pools, nicely decorated bedrooms, lots of provided entertainment...and lots of hotels providing Satellite TV!!
I kept pointing it out in every hotel I saw that provided it! Was so funny seeing Andy's face!
We also went up to London on the Thursday 21st with my family, mainly for christmas shopping and a meal. We also wondered the Selfridges food hall and saw some wonderful stuff. Including the boys drooling over Oreos and Andy dscivering Jack Daniels Coffee! Well that's something you don't see everyday!
The Rat and Parrot/Rock Matrix Christmas Party was alot of fun!
Great music, friendly faces (old and new), hilarious costumes, cheap drinks, a raffle (which I won, twice! I got myself a bottle of decent red wine and Andy choose himself a t-shirt from the stall), I got a new nickname "Scarlette" ('cos apprently 'Sarah' is too hard to remember for others when drunk...) and I actually stayed till the end! (Which is unheard of for me...)
And check this out...that's right! I'm wearing a corset!
More and clearer pics can be found in my photos collection on the main page of my msn space. The top proved to be quite popular with everyone! Females asking where I got it from, males astonished that mine weren't fake, I felt great in it too. Not because of the attention (well it helped...) but because I felt confident in it. I thought I looked beautiful...and I think Andy liked it too (Well when he first saw me in it his glasses misted up...
The antlers were fun too, although the bells attached kept falling off, don't think it helped that several of my mates kept flicking the horns like a cat plays with a ball of string.
But yes, I throughourly enjoyed myself. Despite my doubts since I hadn't shown my face at the rat in a while, it'll be my top choice of a christmas party next year!
And the fun doesn't stop there!!!
Today I'm planning to see Katy, and have a few mates over for christmas Eve. But that's for my next blog, which hopefully you won't have to wait long for.
Anyways: I've always had an ambition to have a drawing of myself as an anime character.
I have the image in my head, but I can't draw. But I stumbled upon an image that looks like me but the colour of her characterisitics was incorrect;
I then posted a bulletin on my myspace asking if anyone knew how to edit colours on pictures. And one lovely lady (Vikki) did it for me! So it came out like this:
I was sooooo happy when seeing that! YAYAYAYAY! THANK YOU SO MUCH VKKI! THAT REALLY MADE MY DAY! ^_^
Sing-a-long time!!!
Well, tis now the season to be jolly. And since I don't know when I'll next update this I though I'd put in a Christma song to get visiters in the mood.
This isn't your typical xmas song, it's isn't a charity track or a number one record. It's from the soundtrack or a popular british romantic comedy known as "Love Actually". Released in 2003, the storyline contains many strands of different types of love, quite amusing and well done. I'm fond of the music too.
I'm not actually a big fan of Christmas-related songs. I mean I may know the lyrics to some and dance for a laugh but they are not exactly the material I put on my ipod.
This song is performed by Bill Nighy, who portrays the character in "Love Actually" of an old rocker planning a 'comeback' with a Christmas No.1, covering 'Love is all Around' by Reg Presley but alternating some of the lyrics to assosiate with christmas.
The most famous version of "Love is all around" is the Wet Wet Wet version that was at the top of the charts for about 15 weeks. Even though this version didn't have such success, the video is a laugh: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fxdVezAvd_I
And it's different, would be too predictable to put up the likes of "Last Christmas" by Wham or "Merry Christmas" by Slade...enjoy!
![]() I feel it in my fingers,

A Month
A WHOLE month
And a little bit extra -
Without an update!!
There is a reason before anyone pounces on me.
I can't explain the reason to the public, people who have asked (privately) I have explained: my mad mood swings and other reactions that have affected my relationships with other people.
It may seem like time has passed quickly since I've updated this but so much has happened in a short space of time. Mostly not good, but despite the bad, it doesn't excuse my whining, moaning, snappy-ness and other things that are out of my character. I've mostly had myself as company since I haven't gone out and I've had to deal with most of my problems on my own....and at the moment I don't like myself very much...
When Andy and Katy left for uni I was hoping this would be the oppotunity for me to develop into the woman I wish to be: confident, happy, self-assured, strong, powerful; and other qualities most people would like from themsleves. I also planned to get onto the career path I wish to embark on.
You are responsible for your own happiness, not one else is, and lately I've felt every aspect of my life is out of my control, which I feel uncomfortable with. What I had power over before is now on the tight rope and I can't keep balance of it anymore.
I've tried to change the only things that I'm capable of alternating so that I can be happy with life once more - my social life and my job. I'm not as bothered about going out, but I wish to move on employment wise and experience how other companies operate.
I've looked and nothing is out there, & what was disappeared before I could complete my application. And my boss says I'm too young for other companies anyways (the way she said it gave me a great confidence boost...).
But I've been offered a contract at GMTV for 6 months, (I was a freelancer since January) which means finally I'll get holiday/sick pay. As additional benefits: the head of the children's department has hinted that he plans for me (in the future) to make promos and assist with the website. Which means new skills and experience under my belt, it may not be what I orignally had in mind but the past 48 hours have been much better than the overall previous month.
Maybe I was being unrealistic thinking that I would change as a person dramatically, and that I could get a job a easy as I got the job at GMTV, but it's time for me to move on now, what's done is done and I hope whatever I've just said doesn't jinx anything.
I hope the up coming new year brings more light to me and those I care about, and brings forth what we hope to accomplish for ourselves and others.....
Sorry for the random "blah!", it's something I've wanted to say for a while and wasn't so sure how to put it...sounds a lot better and 'grown up' in my head....but oh well, I'll learn....
RIGHT...Let's move on shall we?
Here's an update of my life...ish...so far...
Saturday October 7th
A week or two after my test, I had a surprise visit from my good male friend George. He lives in Maidstone so he doesn't come down often, unless for a special occasion. He passed his test not too long ago as well, basically we caught up a little and flashed our driving skills, him in his car and mine in my MBot!
George drives like a typical guy - fast and dangerous....but Rammstein playing at full blast so I brushed it aside! We didn't kill anyone at the end of the day so I presume we drove fine. I was a little nevous since it was the first time I drove by myself since I passed. I only just recieved for both my insurance and my tax disc that day so I wasn't legal to drive before then. It was a good day, I hope we can do it again someday...when I'm less nervous and have air in my neglected tires.
October 19th ~ 22nd
I visited Andy in Totnes, Devon; making it the first time I've seen him since he left to become a university student.
I had kept some contact with him beforehand via e-mails, a letter and MSN conversations: but of course it didn't compare to seeing him face to face and being able to hold him. The journey to Totnes was longer than predicted, a storm at Exetor caused a half hour delay, but Andy's worth the wait and much more. Unfortunetly, I feel personally that I could've delivered a more enjoyable stay if I wasn't suffering from a heavy cold that week. But we had a laugh together, the weekend did us both good, with lots of other things that won't be explain due to X-rated content.....
The first night there: mainly in his bedroom.....We didn't get a lot of sleep that evening either, sharing a single bed is not 100% enjoyable when someone's a fidget and keeps waking you up to steal the covers *coughAndycough* ....so we took it easy on friday, not really doing anything till the evening where we went to the pub.
Andy's bedroom is located in 'Perry house', there are multiple houses within his uni but his is known as the 'wild' house...doesn't help that the front door to Perry's house is right next door to the pub...literally...
The 'Rat and Emu' pub (is that how you spell it Andy?) is quite small and run by the students of Dartington. The prices are decent and a safe comfortable atmosphere is always present. Devon in general is pretty relaxed, you can literally walk into the pub late in the evening in your pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers - and no one would give a toss! You don't see that attitude down at the rat and parrot! (Maybe a good thing considering some people....)
Admittally I was a little uncomfortable in the surroundings, generally because I hadn't socialied much since for the past few weeks and I didn't know anyone there. The only pub I have visited more than once (The Rat and Parrot) I know people there, I only met Andy's buddies and neighbours the day before, don't get me wrong they are all lovely and welcomed me into their uni, but most of them disappeared to get high! Not my cup of tea, but oh well!
I tried to fit in but Andy knew I wasn't right (I tried hard, honest!). He took me to see the gardens (in the pitch black of the night, with the light of my phone to make sure we didn't bump into any scenery) at the central of his university.
In all honesty, I wasn't impressed by his living conditions, but I was dazzled by the well-kept fields, the beauty of the main halls, the historic scenery. I got to appriciate more the next morning when Andy gave me the 'nearly' grand tour of his uni, including the Zen garden hidden within the heart of Dartingdon College of Arts.
The weekend in general was pretty relaxing, we were both knackard and were just happy to be in each other's company, so saturday was spent in his room as well, with his laptop! I left sunday afternoon, my train was cancelled so I was with his for an hour longer, but still it was hard. A Little easier than the first time I said goodbye, but it's not the kind of thing I want to get used to.
November 4th ~ 5th
November started off much more positively with a comeback from both Andy and Katy.
I saw Katy on saturday, we met at the broadway for lunch which eventually lead to me going to her parent's fireworks party! We went into Frankie and Benny's for a pleasurable lunch; despite the slow serivce. I'm quite friendly with a waitress who works there, apprently 3 of the 4 cheifs didn't turn up for duty! So serivice was slow and many customers complained and walked out. But me and Katy had a drink at the bar till we could much on lovely fish & chips, burger, cheesecake and waffle! (not all together of course...)
We briefly went back to my place, originally just to grab my car and dash off to hers, mum was unwell so I didn't wish to disturb her.ut she wasawak so we chatted for a while, Katy telling of her wonderful adentures at uni.
In the dark of the night an hour later: I drove to her house which I was quite proud of since I wasn't 100% sure of the journey there, it was the first time Katy has been in the car with me and my car cut out on m half way there - and I didn't panic or anything (don't worry it started up again immediately and it's been fine since *touch wood*)
The party was enjoyable, they had wide rang of fireworks (one of which nearly killed us all!), a bonfire in the back and Katy's dad's friends seemed friendly. Shame I had to leave by 10...I'm glad to see that she is still well and that she's enjoying uni. I can't wait till she returns to christmas, and hopefully I'll see her sooner, taking a trip to canturbury should be fun right?
The next morning I had to be in London by 9 o'clock in the morning, reason being is that I went to see the screening of "The Nightmare Before Christmas ~ 3D". I got the tickets free from work, Andy joined me in seeing Tim Burton's classic and it was quite enjoyable! The 3D effects were very well done, not just on the characters but the scenery was put into a lot of thought. Halloween town was brought to life and made several passages ways and scenery elements so extrodinary to view, I saw many path ways and corners that I wanted to literally step into the movie and explore further, it seemed so life like to me.
Also there were many things that weren't noticable to me beforehand and fascinated me that day. Example near the beginning of the movie, when Sally and Doctor Finklestein talk on screen for the first time, there's actually a skeleton hanging from the top in front of Sally. Also Zero's nose has a 'pumpkin' image implanted on it!
I highly recommend it for all Tim Burton fans and non alike. It avaliable for your viewing pleasure from the 1st December (the poster is from the american release below...so ignore the date at the bottom of the image...but it's true you get to keep the 3D glasses!)
![]() I also got a chance to see Brokeback Mountain; known for it's multi-winning academy awards and gay cowboys. I've been curious to see what the commotion was about since it was released in cinema, and a kind collague of mine who lent me the DVD made it all possible to fulfill my curiosity.
![]() The story is of 2 men named Ennis del Mar and Jack Twist, who work the the american west shepherding in 1963. Over the course of the summer, the once friendship between the 2 men becomes a deep loving relationship. The 2 men share tender moments which are short lied when they fulfill their jobs and return to their regular lives. Ennis marries his finace and has 2 children while Jack lives in Texas, with his wife and newly born son.
Four years after their last moments together they reaquent themselves with their flame, and over the next 20 years spend each month one week together, hidding their relationship from the eyes of others. Even though Jack wishes for Ennis to leave his family to start a new life with him, Ennis' choice to reject his heart ends in tragedy. Starting with the divorce of his wife, Jack's brief affair with a prositiute and eventually, the death of his lover.
Based upon a short story, I though the storyline was interesting: however I found it very irritating at times to hear the characters speak. All the actors speak in a thick Texan accent, and the main 2 males of this tale spoken quite 'deeply' and inaudibly. So it was hard to understand the conversations between the characters, however what Jack and Ennis 'did' to each other kind of told the audience how the storyline was going anyway....
The director protrayed the relationship between the 2 cowboys very gently and affectionately: a gay relationship wasn't just thrown on scene with lots of kinky rough sex. Some beautiful moments were wittnessed between the two, and the actors did extremely well performances.
And now a word from 'Random Crap'
"Despreate Housewives": The Computer game has been releashed this week, based on the hit TV series and gameplay based on the popular PC series - Sims, control your favourite character from the series to solve mysterious, raise your family and even gossip with your neighbours in this fun filled game! Search through peoples houses, flirt and charm your way through the game......WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!
I'm sorry I'm a fan of the series, I think it's very well written and performed but I wouldn't buy this game! Before you know it they'll have "Lost" the video game! I can imagine it now:
"YOU WERE FOUND. GAME OVER"
I know I've kept Utada's Sanctuary song up for quite a while, but I've discovered another song recently that's got stuck into my head, it's quite an emotional yet a powerful song. I'll provide something more upbeat, both song and blog next time - I promise!
The song is entitled: "Be My Last", unlike most of Utada's song which are mainly techno/pop/hip-hop. this is done by acoustic guitar and it sounds beautiful. For more information on the song go to: http://wiki.theppn.org/Be_My_Last_(song)

Thanks for reading.... October 06 My Heart's a BattlegroundIsn't it ironic?
You blurt out on the net as a blog entry, saying that life ain't grand but your dealing with it, and then the following few days end up being the opposite! Well mostly...
Work really ticked me off last week, for various reasons. I'm currently looking for another job, I have my sight set on MTV since there are 2 internships going and my boss knows people there. She doesn't really want me to go (she says that she'll give me a 'bad' reference and will take AGES until she gives me contacts) but if I want to move on and see what else is out there, she can't really do much about it can she?
It's lovely to feel wanted/needed, but I can't help feeling like I want more...
Enough about that though! Onto the good stuff!
Thursday evening I went to the rat and parrot, the first time without Andy with me.
I really needed to get out actually, had my head filled with multiple things that wouldn't get off my back, going out did work though! I saw George for his 21st birthday, he's was pervy and yet friendly (the usual), as well as his girl Lou - that sort of kicked into high gear when alcohol became involved! They were a laugh, it was great to see them so well and happy, its always a rollercoaster (a good one...) with them as my friends!
I also caught up with Matt, Vikki and Nicola. Matt is always such great company, with and withoUt drinks! He likes dancing randomly, and I always join in for a laugh, good times all round. It was sweet chatting to Vikki too, she seems to be doing well in life.
I've only meet Nicola once before when Katy got her A level results; but I disappeared into the Rat and Parrot shortly afterwards, I heard she is a lovely girl from others, and you know what? I agree.
Friday evening was filled with the magic of Kingdom Hearts 2; after 2 years of anticipation and tears, it arrived on my doorstep via www.amazon.co.uk. More details and a review (yes it's been a while) after my weekend praises...
Saturday was Robbie's birthday party, Brian brought my youngest brothers to visit that morning before the party. We weren't impressed by Robbie's behaviour, as he said his present from us was 'rubbish'. It was a Power Rangers SPD gun and walkie-talkies; just because he didn't know how to operate it first time he threw it onto the floor and lost interest until Daniel tried to play with it.
We only turned up to his party for an hour, spent most of it on the bouncy castle flattening 5 year olds! Who knew jumping up and down on one at 18 years old would cause such chaos and yet pleasure at the same time...?
Daniel played games with Robbie and his mates; while Oliver complained and cried the whole time. He really is (as Brian calls him) a 'ginger-winger'. He cries over everything; when his mum gave him a present, when he was bouncing on the castle, when someone was playing with Robbie's toy, when I tickled him...groan...brothers!
However the highlight of Saturday was a surprise visit from the one and only....KATY!!!!
She texted me that morning asking what I was doing, "not much just Kingdom Hearts 2", and an hour later she was on my door step with her little sister Kiera.
She only stayed for an hour or two, since she had plans as well as an ich to play her newly purchased KH2; but it was all I needed. She made me so happy surprising me, coming down from Canturbury. We caught up on a few things, and promised as soon as I gain confidence to drive by myself (as well as get as tax disc and learn how to get there...) I'll surprise her too!
Thank you Paddy Pez, love you loads my dearest friend!
Sunday went quite quickly, time flies when your kicking butts...on the game I mean...but it was most heart-warming since I was able to speak to and see Andy for the first time since saturday, before he went to uni.
We had previously sent texts to each other, as well as had a phone conversation briefly on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. I missed him dearly last week (in case you couldn't tell, that's why my previous entry wasn't so uplifting).
But we had a long video conversation on msn on sunday, and we've been keeping frequent contact ever since. They really do us both good, I plan to visit him in 3 weeks time, which I'm looking very forward too! I'm so glad to hear he's happy at uni and that he's settling in well.
Now, the moment I've been waiting for....KINGDOM HEARTS 2!!!!!
First of all I do apologise for it not being as good as my previous reviews...everytime I tried typing it up I had the urge to play again! But I was determined to post it by the weekend so I had to rush some of it...
Game: Kingdom Hearts 2
In the beginning, (1923), there was Disney. And from Disney, came a long line of magical characters and legends retold in the style of unique animation that no one had seen before. Many years from then Disney still dazzles many young hearts with its cartoon magic.
The story follows 3 young teenagers; Sora, Kairi and Riku, who live on their secluded home of Destiny Islands. They long to explore the world beyond their home, unfortunetly for them their wish is granted in the darkness way imaginable. A evil breed of creatures known as the 'heartless' conquer Destiny Islands and swallow it whole, leaving the 3 friends scattered across the universe in different worlds.
As you can probably tell from the mentioning of characters, the appearance of Disney characters make the game appear to be light hearted fun and even 'child's play'. However the storyline in KH2 is much more in depth and darker that its presecor, with the appearance of new eneimies such as 'Organisation XIII' and the return of new threats such as Malificent, the game travels deeper into the darkness that was lightly uncovered in the first game. New mysterious that were once shadded reveal themselves and a long difficult battle awaits, not only will Sora need physical strength but emotional and mental strength to defeat what lies ahead... Even though the story’s darker, they are many comical acts pulled by the main characters in the cut scenes, as well as optional extra worlds that provide light hearted fun to balance the game out. Such as Atlantica, where the main tasks are to perform button combinations as Ariel sings songs from “The Little Mermaid”s original soundtrack. The first game was very 'repeativitve' in game play, it was pretty much: battle, battle, cut scene, boss battle, battle, battle, cut scene, boss battle and so on. However this has been dramatically changed in the next installment. Though random battles and cut scenes are still the most frequent, many 'mini games' and missions are put in to breakup the game and make it much more enjoyable. For example; in Christmas Town, where you meet once again the loveable Jack Skellington, you must help San Claus make prezzies by shooting presents into the appropriate boxes. While also trying to avoid the antics of Lock, Shock and Barrel from stealing the presents for themselves. Most of the games are well thought of and provide up-beat fun, in comparisons to most of the battles and sections of the storyline. As well as new adventures with new characters, many old faces from the previous game return for more action, as well as expansions to their roles. For example, the first game introduced us to Hercules and his Olympic collisium. KH2 sees the return of Hercules and his world along with characters from the original movie (e.g. Meg and Peguases) and opportunities to explore the underworld where Hades reings.
What gives the game the 'human' touch is character development between Sora, Donald and Goofy. At the start of the first agme they only just met, and of course at the beginning of every relationship you have your rocky and your positive moments. This continues and grows within KH2. You can tell from the start of the game they are closer friends than thye were previously, they tease each other, have the same reactions to situations, they work well together both inside and outside of battle. It's those little scenes where Sora, Donald and Goofy talk amoungst themsleves that not only are the most amusing to watch, but they also bring the humanity in the game, making certain people such as myself who have friends who I hold dearly in my heart, relate well with the main characters. The music is absoluetly enchanting; composed by the same genius from the first game - Yoko Shimomura - he brillantly captures the essence of each new disney world and brings each scene to life. On top of that, in the re-visited worlds, he takes his original compositions and brings forth a modernised version of them. Most of the music heard within the game will be inspired by the original disney soundtracks, however his own works, such as the beautiful piano piece "Dearly Beloved" - played during the title screen, show off Shimomura's talents and just by listening brings upon over-whelming emotion. He's certainly is a composer I'll look out for more in the future. Battling the enemy has never looked so slick, cool, brillantly done…or even over-whelming…
In KH2, Sora gains the ability to ‘transform’ into various “Drive” forms early in the game; which not only powers him up but allows him to access new abilites, a new costume and even at times use 2 keyblades instead of one. Making him almost unstoppable in the 5 forms that are accessable within the game. You can even level up each mode so that they can become even stronger. Small techical faults, althought not noticable at first, can take away small portions of the magic from the game; such as lacking of sound affects and background music. Many scenes, mostly in the hidden and extra missions, no SFX or music is used - making the scene slightly bland. Such as when Pooh bear is chucked into the air when he's pulled out of Rabbit's home; no sound effects are used when he's pulled out, when he flies across the sky or even when he lands! It doesn't feel natural and seems silly that such a noticable fault is not taken care of by the producers of the game.
What's mostly disappointing, for the lack of commited actors from the previous game who failed to return for the 2nd installment. So. This week's song is from, you guessed it, the Kingdom Hearts 2 soundtrack.
For all the KH games; the multi-millionaire, j-pop artist, beautiful and talented - Utada Hikaru. Best selling solo artist of Japan and not only has the ability but also the talent to conquer world wide!
Kingdom Hearts 1 had the pleasure of Utada's vocal talents with the songs "Hikari" and it's English counter-part "Simple and Clean", both same in melody but completely different in lyrics. The same scenerio reflects Kingdom Hearts 2 main themes: "Passion" and "Sanctuary". "Passion", heard on the Japanese version of the game, the full version is present on Utada's new album: 'Ultra Blue', while 3 different mixes: 'opening version', 'orchestral version' and 'after the battle version' are present within the game.
The same applies to it's English counter-part; "Sanctuary" apart from the 'full' version does not exist.
With haunting yet beautiful unique melodies, as well engineered reverse english lyrics, it's a master piece and delight for the ears.
The reverse lyrics are present in italics, backwards (duh) and in purple so they stand out to readers...

Before I go, I would appriciate it if readers would comment on my Anime Music Video, I made it a few weeks back but haven't posted it until recently. I used Final Fantasy X and X-2 clips, song details can be found at the end of the video. I've posted the video on youtube and google video - but google has much better quality.
I would appriciate it if comments we made about it, I put a lot of work into, and quite proud of it - and yes I have asked a few times on myspace for the same thing, this will be the last time...I promise!
I wanted to paste the video onto this blog entry, but it doens't seem to be working.

This is me, over and out, to play Kingdom Hearts 2... September 27 I'VE PASSED! I'M A DRIVER!I'VE PASSED MY DRIVING TEST!!!!!!!
Sorry for the sudden outburst but this has really been the only 100% all the way through positive thing for the past week and a half.
(Well, apart from the grand news that Kingdom Hearts 2 is FINALLY ~after 2 years of anticipation, and 9 months of anguish after it was released in America~ avaliable to purchase in the UK!) This will help me for the next few weeks.
Help me with what you may ask, (or may not)
Well...
It's...complicated....ok maybe not as complicated as say....brain surgery....
It's a mixture of feelings in one baggage.
I have read many blogs where people who feel they have the whole world on their shoulders - blurt out practically everything there is to know about how they feel.
Some have regretted their desicion, and had to live with the consequenses, some have moved on and change a tone in the next chapter of their lives.
There are some people who may or may not read this I wish to confine in, there are also others I do not wish to. Not because I don't trust them, or wish for them to know.
But because everyone has their own problems
Whether they are good or bad, who needs the woe's of others when they have their own lives to deal with?....
Some people can't deal with their own lives full stop and kill themselves for it
I know I'm struggling at the moment
And I'm unsure of where I stand
By hay...
That's life
I've been through worse...
It may not feel like it, but I have
And I may feel alone
But 4 years ago I was alone...100%
No trust in others, no friends, no belief in myself or the world around me, no shoulder to cry on
I am much wealthier now than I have ever been
(and not just because I have a job...)
I'll be ok
I promise...
I had planned to say more than what seems like an 'after school special'
But I'll keep that within me, the good stuff anyway....especially from last saturday.
For now, as I await my beloved Kingdom Hearts 2 - I play a song for thee...
This is the theme song for Final Fantasy XII, Kiss Me Goodbye, and its performed by Angela Aki. A Japanese and English version are avaliable to download/purchase, and they are performed by the same talented singer, are slightly differnet to each other in melody. Angela Aki, the Japanese-Italian-American singer and songwriter is currently in residence in Japan and has only recently released her major debut album in Japan, Home.
I first heard her voice when she covered the Final Fantasy VIII's theme, and one of my favourite ballads of all time, Faye Wong's Eyes on Me. It a beautiful song, and Aki's take on it was very well done!
Even though the game, FFXIII is only avaliable in Japan, it's due to release in the UK next year, and will be the last PS2 release in the Final Fantasy series. Of course I couldn't wait that long to hear the theme tune so I downloaded it and thought I would share it with people who wish to read me!
The lyrics below and the song playing is the offical english version, the Japanese version is well worth a listening to. The lyrics are very close to the Japanese translation, which can be found here:

This is me, over and out, zoom zoom!!! September 16 And Then We Said Goodbye...Boy what a week!
Add one packet of romantic weekend in Center Parcs, one cup of my best friend leavng for university, a pinch of job interview and mix it all with tears, worries and 'holding thy head up high' - you'll find yourself with my week...
I'll start off with cloud 9 and work my way down back to Earth...if you were hoping for a 'less personal' entry you would be wise to not to read it and wait till next week...when Kingdom Hearts 2 comes out and I hope to rave and praise such as waited beauty!
p.s I'm not going to explaining everything we did since I know that would bore most of the 'past-byers' who visit this site...instead I'll focus on the details that would be benefical to the promotion of Center Parcs - since we highly enjoyed it...
On Friday 8th September, me and Andy headed up to Center Parcs in Elvenden forest for the long weekend. I have been to Elvenden forest before hand but it was a few years ago, easily whilst I was in primary school. Oddly enough even though a fair bit had changed, so much of the atmosphere and mainly the swimming pool surroundings brought back some lovely memories - and great flashbacks, but now I have formed new memories with the man I love more than belgian buns and games consoles put together (seriously huni that's quite a lot...)...just kidding - you know I love you more than that...
The journey was slightly long due to traffic (mum drove us which was incredibly sweet) but we did leave late so it was expected.
Upon arrival we took in our surroundings: a beautiful well kept villa all to ourselves and a lovely countryside feel town, with warm weather and just us two. Our scenerys were gorgeous, but we didn't get to appriciate it till the next morning.
We hired bikes to explore the Village, through the forests and wildlife - the fresh country air did us good. The bikes took a lot out of us, we don't do much of it at home so my legs were ready to fall off quite quickly.
When booking Center Parcs you are sent a brochure to book activities amougst the 100s avaliable before arrival. Me and Andy took a fondness for 2: Clay Pigeon Shooting and Crossbow.
Clay Pigeon shooting took place early afternoon: and what a time it was! It was a small group of 7 of us, taught by a man who has had loads of experience, and he was very good at explaining the basics as well as encouraging us when we made mistakes. We had to shoot 3 different targets: one that shot straight up high and came down again - you had to shoot it at its peak, a target that shot straight across the land we were on - it was quite fast so we had to rely on instinct when to blast it out of the sky. The last target rolled along the floor - its speed was random since it came from a machine.
After the basics we had a mini competition between us, 6 rounds of 2 targets, each target worth 5 points each and 20 points if you got both targets in the same round. The average amount of points (accourding to our teacher) of first time students was between 20 and 45 points. The first male to step up got 45 points and the 2nd male followed up with 40. Andy was next in line and took a lead at 50 points. A man who was the only one in the group with shot gun experience, sadly got 0 points. The next male achieved 35 while his girlfriend scored 15 points. Then I took the shot gun: and scored an amazing 50 big ones! Me and Andy won the mini comp between us! We rocked, (well me slightly more since I've never held a real gun before, my eye sight was a weakness since I need to order new stronger glasses and I was left handed...)
Later in the afternoon we took up the crossbow: the guy who was with us was not as professional as the clay pigeon shooting teacher. He admitted he was hungover and didn't come off as passionate about the sport. The instruments were slightly irritating since they didn't shoot straight (been used frequently and all), but I enjoyed it still. Andy and I had a mini tournament between ourselves, he won 4-3 (rounds wise). It was a good game though!
Early in the evening: we decided to go swimming, the fairy lights in the village as well as the scenery for the pool itself was beautiful to behold. The pool contained many slides and our personal favourite - a wild flume that went outside. It contained strong currents, bubbles, bumpy slides and bendy passageways - we keep riding it repetitivtly!
Much later on we had a late night Italian romantic dinner, a jazz band played many classics such as 'a wonderful world' and the sesame street theme tune in the background too, it was a nice addition to such a fantastic action packed day!
Bearing in mind that we cycled a lot the previous day, ontop of the swimming, we were shattered by sunday morning! We a lazy morning that was followed with a few hours of swimming, just for a few laughs! After lunch and a pleasent ride in the pedel boats in the lovely warm weather and huge lake: we came back and watched the simpsons for a few hours since we were so tired! (We had TV in our rooms, the quality of the connection varied, it was the first night we had sound on Sky 1 so we took advantage of it!) We didn't actually leave the apartment that night, so I cooked...I cooked a fair bit during the weekend actually! And without poisening anyone, which to me is a big achievement since I have never cooked without my mum's supervision/direction before...so go me!!!
Most of monday was occupied with packing and travelling, although we had a change to buy gifts for the family and play a quick game of snooker...which I won on default since Andy pocketed the 8 ball and pocketed one of my balls at the same time.
I had a absolutely wonderful weekend: it was just what me and Andy needed. I can't wait till we go on holiday again! I recommend Center Parcs to anyone who wants a relaxing, or even an action filled get-away. Yes it isn't cheap but it was so worth the money.
And
now
the
decend....
'How do you say goodbye to a true friend?'
Seriously. I am asking you yet questioning myself. Mostly during the period of last week.
During my weekend away was Katy's 19th birthday and her London trip that she planned; obviously I was unable to attend, but I took the following Thursday afternoon off to collect the 3rd part of her leaving/birthday present.
I met at her place, getting the bus with her younger was a joy...NOT! (not the company...but the bloody immature and idiotic St Catherines and Columbus brats!!!)
When I got to hers she was amazed by the presents I got her (a common reaction with my presents). I purchsed her a DVD player - multi regional, a set of Yaoi pyjamas (that I got especially made for her! On the top it says: "I like boys..." on the front and "On top of other boys!" on the back. The printing continued to the trousers where on the right leg it says: "Who needs a boyfriend when you got Yaoi?"). And to top it all off I got her season 4 of Reboot on DVD.
![]() Reboot was the 1st computer animated series to broadcasted ever! It was popualr in the early series for being kid friendly and fun, with each episode corresponding with a genre or an actual titled video game. However in the later series that programme took a dark twist, it lost the 'kids friendly' appeal and was taken off air in the UK half way season 3. Now the DVD/VHS' of the historic series is hard to come by.
But because I'm so wonderful I managed to purchase season 4 from amazon, and she couldn't believe her eyes. It seems odd that I get very high pleasure when I see my friends eyes light up when I get them something they didn't expect eh?
Later that evening we went to Cyprus village, a greek resturant in Bexleyheath. The food was a little exspensive, but I knew that quality is worth it from previous experience. I did the emotional speech after we orderd, but the tears didn't come till much later...when we went to the rat and parrot. The evening was fun with nice company, photos from me & Andy's holiday and cool music. The onl thing that ticked me off was when I went outside to say hello to Hannah, I tried getting back in the pub but a new bouncer wouldn't let me in without ID. I left it at home so I walked back with Andy and repeated the process....expect he didn't bloody ask for it!!!!! Waste of bloody time that was!!!
As I was leaving, me and Katy got a little emotional, of course we're going to miss each other - but I know Katy must do this. She really wants to go to university, and I'm posiitve this will be a great experience for her, I'm sure she'll do well and enjoy herself....but if it hurts this much now how much will it for when Andy leaves?
This week's song sort of reflects my mood from Thursday, it's the title song from the popular video game: Final Fantasy IX (9).
The song is sung by Emiko Shiratori, for both the Japanese and English version, and is composed by my favourite Japanese composer: Nobuo Uemastu.
This is the only song I've heard from Shiratori, but she has a beautiful soothing voice like no other, and Uemastu - well - he has incrediable talent, he has composed music for the entire Final Fantasy series (excluding X-2) and many other classics.
I have put up the english version since it's very well done and the lyrics are wonderful. Enjoy!
![]() Title: Melodies of Life (English Version)
Composer: Nobuo Uematsu
Performer: Emiko Shiratori
Album: Final Fantasy IX OST
Alone for a while I've been searching through the dark
For traces of the love you left inside my lonely heart To weave by picking up the pieces that remain Melodies of life--love's lost refrain Our paths they did cross, though I cannot say just why We met, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye And who'll hear the echoes of stories never told? Let them ring out loud till they unfold In my dearest memories, I see you reaching out to me Though you're gone, I still believe that you can call out my name * A voice from the past, joining yours and mine Adding up the layers of harmony And so it goes, on and on Melodies of life, To the sky beyond the flying birds--forever and beyond So far and away, see the bird as it flies by Gliding through the shadows of the clouds up in the sky I've laid my memories and dreams upon those wings Leave them now and see what tomorrow brings In your dearest memories, do you remember loving me? Was it fate that brought us close and now leaves me behind? * Repeat If I should leave this lonely world behind Your voice will still remember our melody Now I know we'll carry on Melodies of life Come circle round and grow deep in our hearts As long as we remember This is me, over and out for another entry. Thanks for reading me... July 31 I'm the Sun and AirRant #1: Has anyone noticed that many shops have started already to advertise clothes, accessories and crap for school? Rant #2: my colleague Billie, had her car broken into during the weekend. This is like the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened but still its horrible, they smashed her windows, broken the locks – and guess what they took?.......a pair of shorts……seriously…. Now that my rant is out of the way....
How is everyone? Sorry for the delayed update, a week ago not much had happened apart from me still being ill and feeling sorry for myself, so what was the point in updating if nothing happened? But the week that has just come to past has been pretty sweet. In the holiday department: from my previous entry my Morocco holiday had been cancelled, much to my disappointment. However the sun has shone brightly and things are starting to look up once more. > We have booked 2 weeks in April (yes, next year) to go to Florida, Orlando, USA! During the easter hols, I've never been to America before, I've always wanted to go - so hopefully it'll be a great laugh! > I’m off to Bourmouth for a weekend with my mum, dad, step mum and my 3 brothers. We’re staying in an old building (that belongs to Miranda) that I’ve stayed at before – which I’m not particularly ‘thrilled’ to be going to. It’s one of those places where you just think: been there, done that, can we move on please? > I've booked a week off in August, regardless of holiday or not, I plan to see my dear friends and hang out/relax before they go off to Uni and forget I exist! > In addition; me and Andy have finally booked our weekend away to Center Parcs, in September, it did cost a bit and it’s only for a weekend (due to only allowed a few days off from work) but I'm very excited about it. It'll be my first holiday away from my family, first one with my boyfriend and first one I've paid for myself! (Well we're going half and half but you get my drift).
I saw Katy for the first time since our anime fest last month, originally we were meant to met for one day but I ended up seeing her for two! Last week I had not seen Andy in 2 weeks due to me feeling rather ill and also clashing of plans, but this weekend I managed to spend the night at his and spend some quality time together. I went over Saturday evening, at first it was originally going to be a relaxing evening but to my surprise (and short notice), I was invited to a birthday party by Katy, for a boy in her college named Liam. Sunday was a quite day though: I had dinner with Andy’s family and I had an opportunity to experiment with my computer skills. Andy’s has a brand new laptop for uni, which was egar to use, however the laptop provided a promo for AOL broadband – but his family are under BT Yahoo Broadband. He was not in a rush to delete AOL and install BT Yahoo, due to a previous experience that destroyed the computer…..plus him and technology don’t mix well together. So I sorted him out, he jumped for joy, we browsed the net and chatted to his ex online (why not?), it was fun. We then came back to my place for Pimms, booking the holiday and watched Brainiac (I love that show).
Since I've got into the swing of changing my song with every blog entry - why break the chain? Original artwork for The Smiths single release
Artwork for the t.A.T.u release of the same song Song: How Soon is Now? I am the son and the heir Before I disappear completely I'd like to congrat the following: KATY - for getting a job after searching long and hard, especially also for doing a night shift for Next. I takes a lot to survive one. GEORGE - for also obtaining a job after his long search, he now works for an insurance company where he is the only male and the youngest member too....good for him! Ha ha! ANDY - I know you are searching for work, but you'll find it eventually, one way or another - if the nazi muffin (Katy) can get one than so can you!!! Ha ha! This is me, up up and away I go! June 15 Is it ever possible....?......to have a perfect weekend?
I nearly did, at the bank holiday weekend I went over to Andy's house and spent saturday night there, his parent's went on holiday so we had the whole place to ourselves - it was magical.
I mean I always feel close to him, but this weekend was just to libriating, having over 24 hours to do whatever we wanted, without parents, complications are restrictions - I'm not going to go into much details, but I think you get my drift.
The bank holiday monday I spent with Katy and Hannah - we had an anime fest, which included alcohol, loads of precious DVDs, my first viewing of Katy's finished trailer that I was in and food!
In many people's aspects this would've been the perfect weekend, but however a major flaw ruined it - I was shot in the arm by a dart gun....I have typed up information as a bulletin on my myspace account:
At 12:55pm on Monday 29th May: I was shot by a dart gun on the arm. It was on Mayplace Road East, outside 'The Vyne' - a road found round the corner from where I live.
Anyways moving on......
For the past 2 weekends Andy has been coming over and help set up some brand new furniture for my barbeque – sure I did most of the work muscle work (don’t tell him I said that) but with him, me, my mum and Daniel all working as a team, underneath the hot sun, with a jar of Pimms with us and roast dinner served promptly afterwards, the weekend had a lovely atmosphere. We worked together as a team and Andy feels like more he’s part of our family I mean we have always said to each other, to Andy I’m his family, and he’s part of mine – but it seems to have meant more after these past 2 weekends, and I felt it when we were chilling in my back yard, it felt right. Also as a plus my house is all set and ready for my barbeque – I’m sure it’ll turn out fine, I’ve invited many people I haven’t seen or spoken to in quite a few months (even years for one or two of them). I mean 18th birthdays doesn’t seem like much of a big deal to me (in my personal case, not anyone else’s 18th, they’re very important…very hypocritical I know) – let’s hope I prove myself wrong.
I’ve finally finish watching Sailor Moon the live action series on youtube, I thought it was very good, during the time I took to update the storyline took a dramatic change, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
In my previous entry – I was meant to type up a review of a PS2 game I’ve played for the past month or so, but didn’t get the chance to type it up….now it’s different…. Title: Magna Carta: Tears of Blood Format: PS2 Genre: RPG Personal Rating: 3/5
When I first viewed the trailer for it last year, I was extremely impressed with the beauty and flawlessness of the graphics. I hadn’t seen such good visual beauty since Final Fantasy X. When the trailer entitled the game “The greatest RPG this year” – you can imagine from that it was purposely stirring up high expectations. Some of which, after playing the game, are achieved, others that were crushed…
From the moment of playing it’s hard not to compare the game to that of the Final Fantasy series. From the graphics, to the music, to the anime styled characters, to the battle system: it’s hard not to make comparisons while playing, sure in doing this it may have made my experience of the game not as enjoyable as I hoped or could’ve had.
From the cover, you can tell from the style of it, it’s very ‘Japanese’, which in my personal experience I do love. The style of the characters are interesting, however the male character looks very ‘feminine’. The battle costume he wears shows a bit of slim soft curvy thigh…very curvy for a male, and his chest it very ‘stand out’ for a bloke – the only thing that makes it clear that’s male is the English voice actor who plays him (who has an extremely smooth yet deep voice) and the fact that all main female characters have a cleavage larger than Jordan’s... It’s the same situation for most male characters of the game: most fangirls or anime fans will know that Japan are big fans of the ‘beautiful male’ idea - they’re quite common in anime, manga and yaoi. Of course that style doesn’t bother me however most people who have reviewed this game so far are weary of it.
The graphics are beautiful – by far the best feature of the game, the details of the characters and their surroundings is well done, the only downside is the attacks – they look a bit ‘down graded’ compared to the characters using the attack/spell. The music is quite well done and easy to listen to, again quite similar to Final Fantasy style soundtracks, the only questionable track is the opening theme, I downloaded the Japanese theme a while back from the main Magna Carta website. The song was originally titled: Rain, the tune was soft and easy-listening, and the woman’s voice was soothing as well. But the Americans have decided to change the tune completely, make it a ballad, and use a woman who sounds a cross between Charlotte Church, Celin Dion and Lindsey Logan….and a very bad impression….its awful! I manically press the start button when I first turn it on to avoid hearing it ever again!
Sympathy and connection to the characters is important when playing RPG, is a player doesn’t care what happens to his/her characters, then they’re not going to care whether the hero will get the girl, or if the evil is vanquished or what. Most RPG I can find my favourite character, or a character that I’m most alike. However in Magna Carta I cannot and it doesn’t help that the voice actors are not up-to-scratch. During cinematic sequences and scenes in between are voiced and subtitled, at first I noticed that all sentences have a massive gap in between each one – which isn’t their fault, they can’t help how the Japanese company decide to voice the characters. However the actors produce very little emotion in the characters they played, most of the work was done in monotone, and in the emotional scenes it was done poorly. The most typical and predictable reactions to situations were done, (e.g. I am angry so I must shout and scream) – which is GCSE type of acting. And it gets worse in the battles! The characters only have 4 phrases each maximum to say in battle, one to say when they attack, when they are attacked, when the battle starts and when it begins. These lines are so repetitive! And all done in monotone, its gets extremely annoying after a while I have to stick my I-pod on!
A good battle system, storyline and character communication & development are what can save a game from being a trash-worthy material to being one of the most treasured games in history. If the battle systems difficult then people will fill reluctant to play, if the storyline’s crap no one will care if the hero saves the world or chokes on a piece of broccoli, if there’s no character development or no relation between the characters then all the game really is, is walk, kill monster, walk, kill monster, chatter, walk, kill monster…..basically boring….luckily Magna Carta contains traces of these.
The battle system basically takes elements from Final Fantasy, Starocean and Shadow Hearts battle system, add their own ingredients and mix it all together to make it original. In battle: the characters have to wait for the ‘leadership’ bar to fill up enough for the character to attack, you move the character within range of the enemy then a range on 3 button combinations come up, such as OXO. You must push the corresponding buttons in the correct order and time – if successful the character attacks, if not your leadership bar decreases and you have to wait even longer to repeat the process. On top of that you have ‘chi’ that comes into play. In each battle field certain elemental ‘chi’ is present in the air, if your spell/attack is fire based, then your character needs fire chi in order to attack – so even if you press the button combination correctly, if the chi that you need is not in the atmosphere then you can’t attack. This system is rather good for experienced RPG players who want something a bit different, however inexperienced RPG players will struggle, especially those who aren’t great at fast button combinations. This system though original is rather easy to stir frustration; from continuous failing to press the correct buttons on time can be a right put-off. Character communication is rather original too, in camp mode (which you enter when activating a save point), you get a choice of talking to your team members, they ask you various questions, some relating to whatever situation you are at the time, and you get to reply one of two options. The answer will result in increasing or decreasing the trust between you and your team mates, the trust rate affects how they perform in battle. It isn’t as simple as one answer makes them trust you and the other doesn’t. One answer can make the person you’re talking to trust increase and another team mate trust in you decrease greatly. While the 2nd answer can make 3 members of your team trust you greatly and the person you’re talking to decrease slightly – throughout the game you learn to balance it out and learn more about the characters. I do really like this feature since some of the scenes between them are quite funny, what troubles me somewhat is that this feature is done with no voices – only text, yet they seem to portray more emotion and character in this mode rather than the scenes said with the voices…
Personally this game does have aspects and potential to be a very enjoyable game, I think it’s the fact that many features lead me to compare it to other games, as well as the negative features of the game being really bad that prevent it from being on my personal recommendation list….but it’s also the lack of compassion for some of the characters that has lead me not too enthusiastic to play it again, I would rather wait for Kingdom hearts 2 to come out, but don’t let my review put you off – go out and try it yourself…. Scenes from the game can be found playing on my media player now.
Moving away from the formalities….
This is actually my last entry as a 17year old, it’s my birthday tomorrow. A year has past and emotionally it has been a struggle, but experience wise it’s been one of the best, a year ago I was at college – miserable, depressed, unsure of myself, unsure of relationships with people, not confident in myself or anything I do, and lack any positive aspect of myself. A year has past and I’ve got a job at one of the most highly rated TV channels of all time, built a much stronger and lasting relationship with Andy, made new friends as well as dispose of ex one’s who weren’t good for me. I’ve developed into a much happier, stronger, confident and positive person – I’m no longer the shadow I was of myself that North West Kent College brought out of me. I’ve developed through the blog entries I’ve left on my MSN space and the bulletins I post on myspace – who knows who I’ll end up as? Even though the next coming year I know will be difficult: due to people I care about leaving for university, my job going in unknown directions, my brother preparing for the big world as well as mum looking for a new direction in life. All I know is: I’ve been in the lowest place before – and if I can come back from that, I can do so again is fortune takes that route. If not – then all the better!
This is me, 17 years old, over and out….. May 24 Loooong over dueHello fellow readers Sorry for the long ovedue update - I've had lots on my mind, life and amoungst other things, I never had the energy or time to update till recently.
The past week I have spent in Oxford Street/Oxford Circus - the reason? Work experience with Nickelodeon. I've been workig for 1 whole week with the props department for the kids morning show "The Crunch". Within the week I've bought and made several props, made several TV appreences (WEARING EXTREMELY SILLY WIGS - can be seen in photo album) and work my arse off. My legs were hurting and my feet were bleeding at the end of it - btu I learnt lots and it's something new to add to my CV.
I've spent a lot of time with Andy recently, including staying over his house - which was fun, I learnt how to play many card games with his family including Rummy and Hearts (or also known as 'Chase the Lady'), I'm not too bad on either games, I felt like I really bonded with him and his family which is always a good thing. We've been exchanging a lot of phone calls and text messages lately too, its sweet and I like that I feel close to him - makes a change to feeling down that he's moving away soon and thta people are hesitant to believe that a long distance relationship can work...but we won't go into that... Next week happens to be bank holiday week, his parents are away and we plan to...well...you get my drift...
As well as seeing Andy I saw my good friend Katy last weekend, she stayed over for dinner and we also saw Silent Hill movie. It was ok, not as bad as previous movies who have tried to mimic other video games. I was glad that they kept the same music from the Silent Hill series. The acting was ok, at times, a little annoying, interesting storyline though, and the funniest quote form it was: Reaper: I am the Grim Reaper Woman: What do you want?! Lmao!!!! A Classic!!!! We also have an anime fest (organised by Hannah) on bank holiday monday so that should be fun.
Many of you would have probrably heard of: www.youtube.com Basically it's a website where you can view videos that other people have loaded onto the site, mostly the site is great for loading music videos and concert takes - but it also happens to be wonderful for finding anime! If you look hard enough you can find episodes of your favourite anime, anything from Chobits to Fake to the original Japanese episodes of Pokemon! For my personal tastes - I have found something that I never thought I'd fest my eyes upon: Sailor Moon: The Live Action Series!
Sailor moon stars a 14 year old blonde-heared cry baby named Usagi Tsukino (Bunny in the manga, or Serena in the english translation). The series starts with Usagi discovering that she is a "sailor senshi" - a soldier with magical powers, orginally born in a previous life on the Moon - and one of the many soldiers who protected the Princess of the moon kingdom. Along the way she discovers other girls amoungst her school and neighbourhood who also are sailor soldiers named after planets in the solar system (Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, etc). The TV and manga series were extremely popular in Japan, the success is proved with countless albums, 3 anime movies, musical theatre, video games, DVD releases, millions of merchandise and also lead to the release of the dubbed version in the UK and USA. Unfortunely when the USA got their hands on it they wanted to make it into a children's television show: therefore removing nudity, swear words, lesbian relationships, transvestites and male rock stars transforming into women.... The dubbed version wasn't popular with either the children or anime fans, however the series still managed to get translated into at least 5 different languages, and even if you're not an anime fan you've probably heard or seen Sailor Moon some point in your lives. Then in 2003 - Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon was released on Japanese television, with 49 episodes as well as several 'special' acts and extras released with the DVD version. When I first saw the series, my first reaction was "Power Rangers". With the karate action (slow motion, 'high-ya' noises, kicks that don't seem like they are 'actually' hitting the target and the stupid 'ugly monster' costumes that the enemy wears). If the series was a few years older then I could understand but from the view I'm protraying here you can tell that it's not taken seriously at first glance. The outfits do look a but 'unnatural' on the actress, but you get used to them later on. Also, the male actor who plays one of the bad guys - he looks so ridiculous in a blonde wig! But over a period of time you get used to these comic antics and see for what it actually is. It stays quite true to the actual manga storyline up to a certain point: after Sailor Jupiter joins the series the series goes it own direction, and the characters take on differet personalities compared to both the aniem and manga version. Sailor Venus is a much more serious character, Usagi isn't such a cry baby, etc. To me this makes it quite original and enjoyable. Sure many fans would probably prefer if it stayed true to either the anime or manga storyline - but there's nothing wrong with trying to go something different - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but you never know until you try! The live action series seems to me more believable than the anime series in some certain levels. E.g. the relationships between the characters are more clearly defined in the live action series, at the beginning they don't always like or trust each other, but as certain situations occur you see that the friendship begins to slowly develop - unlike in other anime series the characters already seem to be "best mates" from the moment they first see each other. Also: in the anime series Usagi (Sailor Moon) is blonde with a hair style like "meatballs" (as pictured)
When she transforms into Sailor Moon, she still has the same hair style - the only thing thats changed is the outfit shes wearing - yet her family and friends cannot tell its her, even though the hair style is not exactly that popular. However in the live action version its different: the girl who plays Usagi (also pictured above) has natrually black hair, and its only when she transforms that she develops blonde "meatballs". Which makes it seem more like a disguise and hard to tell to the people that sailor moon knows - so this aspect also makes it more realistic. I do enjoy the series since I am a long-term fan of Sailor moon, I'm going to continue watching it on youtube.com, I'm up to episode 28 so I might as well! But despite this series being appealling to me, my simple conclusion for it is this.... NO LIVE ACTION COPY CAN REPLACE ANY ANIME YOU CAN NAME!!!! NOTHING CAN REPLACE ANIME!!!!! NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY! LONG LIVE ANIME!!!!! Boy that was fun.....I'm going now....bye! x
p.s. (Incase anyone asks this song is from the Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits Soundtrack)
April 18 Game-tastic!
Well this is probably the quickest update I’ve done in ages, but before I forget important details I wanted to share with you this:
I had a sudden surprise at work today; GMTV Kids was invited to the THQ Summer Premiere Party at the Hard Rock Café in London. THQ are a computer games company who occasionally do games relating to Nickelodeon and Pixar movies, as well as other kids movies planning for release. I wasn’t planning on going since I was originally meant to be in the edit suite – but then it got cancelled. Amy (my boss) however was, but got caught up in other affairs – so asked me to go instead of her! So for 2 hours I was “Amy Gershfield – Producer of GMTV2 Kids”. Haha!
There was plenty of food (popcorn was popular amongst the children), drink and alcohol….I didn’t have any in case anything bad happened… There was also face painting and balloon animals for the younger attendants, but also various “pods” where the 4 mainly advertised games could be played with. The 4 games were: Cars Monster House Barnyard Stormbreaker
Cars Based upon the new Pixar film sue for release (I think) in the summer, it’s really just a racing game but with cartoon and colourful characters – to make it more enjoyable for younger gamers, I’m sure there’s more too it than that but the person I spoke to said most levels had to be ‘blocked’ since it gave most of the storyline would be given away if they didn’t. Also, I came with my co-worker’s son: Jake (he’s cool, like’s computer games too AND his favourite games include Trivium, System of a Down and Linkin Park) and I played head-to-head…I won! He said he ‘let’ me win….big fat liar!
Monster House A group of kid friends heard rumours of a house being possessed by ghosts, and one of their friends go inside of it and doesn’t come back! It’s up to you with your water pistol, knowledge and friends to uncover the house’s secrets and rescue your friend. It seems pretty cool, reminds me of Luigi’s Mansion, or a kiddies version of Silent Hill. It also seems a bit more ‘challenging’ compared to the other games, you have to find objects to move onto the next room to solve puzzles.
Barnyard Another film set for release in summer, a group of Farm animals – and their lives when the humans are not around. Reminds me of Toy Story but involving animals, the person I spoke to says the humour is for both adults and children, and it seems to be different and ‘stepping over different boundaries’ that no other film I’ve heard have done before…Apparently theres a married cow couple in the film, the woman cow is pregnant….but the baby is not the husbands….not exactly the kind of material you find on kid’s movies ain’t it?
Stormbreaker James Bond has met his match – Alex Rider – a teenage heartthrob with gadgets, cool gear and skills to save the world! Based upon the Anthony Horowitz books, the DS game seemed pretty well done visually, I finished the level I was “allowed” to play, seemed more aimed at the boys rather than the females. The movie is set for release in Autumn, I liked Spy Kids – but this is meant to appeal to slightly older viewers – can’t wait to hear more, but if he is anything like James Bond (predictable plots and crappy acting) then you can kiss my positive opinions goodbye! At the end of the day I recieved a goodie bag! Containing Nickelodeon goodies, demos of games and other stuff - so I had fun!
In other news I saw Katy yesturday: the day was filled with anime, music, mayhem, peverted material, internet animations and laughs - a typical day in McArdle Castle/Hughes land.
Well I'm off to take a bath - over and out. April 16 Trapt by DeceptionSorry for the delayed update - I had typed most of it at work but forgot to send it to my e-mail at work so took me awhile to felt the "need" to update again.
The end of the easter hols is rearing it's ugly head: it's probably going to be a bit of a downer for most people who have had 2 weeks off - unlike me who only have had this long weekend.
Despite the short break I've had the opportunity to catch up with old friends and re-capture the gamer in me...
Before I get to the good parts - I'll start off with a low and then head up stairs:
My driving instructor has quit his job for another up in London. He suddenly dropped the bombshell on me via text, I wished him good luck with a bottle of wine but alas now I have encountered a dilema. I'm with the AA driving school, but no instructors that work weekends are avaliable to take me on board. Now I have to cancel my test booked since I won't be able to get a new instructor on time....a bit of a pickle. But I'll work something out, it all works out in the end, right?...
Now moving on...lots has happened, even they were great days and I WISH I can go into detail but this is going to be a long entry anyway - so I'll be brief:
Saturday 1st April: Went over to Andy's place, a lot happened, nothing for your eyes/ears to know about but I had a wonderful time. I was also meant to meet up with Toni but she cancelled on me...
Tuesday 4th: Mike had a house party, I could only stay for a few hours 'cos I had work the next day but it was enjoyable, just 4 guys and me....no comment!
Saturday 8th: Andy stayed over, mum wasn't well so he didn't stick around for long the next day but it was sweet
Friday 14th: Went over to Andy's, and discovered he has Gex 3D: Enter the Gecko! It was one of my favourites on the PS1 before it got unbelievably scratched!
Saturday 15th: It was my Mum's birthday, we went out for a meal at an Italian resturant near my way, her presents included Red Dwarf 8 on DVD, Will Young CD and a remote control Darlek....for her inner child, I also met up with the lovely Landa! Who I hadn't seen since January. I also bumped into Grum - he seemed well with his new job, lovely girlfriend and he has quit smoking! Congrats for him!
Sunday 16th: Saw Andy once more, but when I saw dad he gave me a horrible flash back: a video of me at 9years old.....wearing a skirt, dancing to the....(prace yourselves...) SPICE GIRLS!!!!! ARGH!
Tomorrow I'm due to see my good friend Katy, we will probably watch anime and have a jolly good laugh, it always is with her.
I have completed Bloodrayne 2, it was enjoyable and great to play, althought I did get a few looks from my co-workers when I told them I was heading home to "chop some vampires heads off".....maybe I should've mentioned it was only a computer game...if anyone happens to want some tips/advice on the game or wants more details on what the game entails - drop a comment.
After a dry spell of my computer games, I find Bloodrayne and now I have 4 more in all its glory!
1) Trapt
2) Sonic Riders
3) Magna Carta
4) Xenosaga: Episode 2
I purchased Trapt only yesturday, want to see my review?...
Trapt is not a stand alone game - it's actually the 4th in the "Deception" series, the game is also known as Kagero 2: Dark Illusion in Japan.
You play as the heroine: Princess Allura, the game opens with the princess and you're father - King Olaf, standing by your mother's grave. She has been dead for 4 years, but the scars of her death are crystal to everyone still, including the King's new wife and Queen - Catalina. Catalina over the years since the death of the original Queen has left her bitter and angry at her husband, and also at the daughter - who refused to accept her as part of the family. The game suddenly takes a turn for the worst when the King is suddenly murdered. Catalina uses this opportunity to blame Allura for his death, having no choice - Allura flees to an abandorned castle, where she encounters and gets possesed by "the fiend" (like the devil). In order to save her own life, she sacrafices the souls of Catalina's knights using magic known as "traps" and "dark illusions".
![]() The game may not contain the most highly tech graphics, the most rememorable storyline line or anything else that makes games such as Final Fantasy series highly credited. By I'm enjoying this game; I love the music score, and the battle system is unqiue and fairly easy to use. You simply equip a trap to either the triangle, circle or 'x' button, place it within the room you're in, wait till the enemy is within range and then watch you're opponents health decrease...
Allura can summon various objects to kill her opponents in trap like situations. You can use anything from giant buzzsaws to bombs to giant oil pots. To defeat enemies quickly you must perform a series of combos, not only using you're own traps but also the objects found the room you're currently in. Such as torture devices found in the torture chamber, or electric gates found in the chapel (I have no idea either...)
The game has a very "Japan" feel for it, the clothes are "fantasy" like (the sort of clothing I wished they sell in my local shop) and the game has kept the Japanese voice actors in and supplied with english subtitles. The translation's a bit poor (well the grammer is, you can tell it's done by a Japanese translator), and thought the battle system is unique, the camera angle is annoying and slow - you try to position the camera so you can time when an enemy comes within trap range, but since the camera's slow by the time you get there the enemy has already past it!
The games offers various extras that I really enjoy most about the game: in your average game - most enemies will be treated as a 'collective', such as "minions" in Bloodrayne, or "soldier" in others. In this game they present you will a full profile, descirbing their personality, whether they enjoy they job, who they have relationships with, etc. And after you kill them, it's keeps a record of it so you can reflect back on all your glories. Such as "Decapitated by Pendulam" and "Sliced in half by Buzz Saw"...hehe!
This game does have many faults, many reasons why many reviews I've seen has discarded it - but if you overlook them you'll find a unique game, unlike any other, and quite enjoyable. With 4 endings to discover, numerous trapts and hidden extras to explore.
I have also had the opportunity to hire out "Sonic Riders": to me in some ways it's a despreate attempt (that some company's use for long-running games) to use the same storyline but cover it with something new to make it SEEM like it hasn't been done before. Many of Sonic's games is basically Sonic running around, avoiding obsticles, kicking Robotnik's arse, and collecting chaos emeralds. This game has the same concept - but instead of platform playing its RACING on floating snowboards to collect chaos emeralds. On top of that 3 new characters have been introduced. One of them being "Jet the Hawk" (see on the cover below) - a green bird who's speed matches Sonic's!
From the screen it looks like much more is set to be unlocked. I only had the pleasure of playing for a few minutes, but the game never really properly explained the controls. When I've played the game again I'll let you know.
I have supplied a trailer for Trapt (it's actually a Japanese trailer, good quality but small, it's the best I could get) - curtosy of Tecmo (http://www.tecmo.co.jp/product/kagero2/index.htm)
This is me, over and out... April 02 Clear-headed, and under controlWow, 2 weekends to brag about!
Last weekend I went to bluewater; me and Andy had a double date with Oli and Jo. Oli I haven't seen since i left NWK so it was a nice surprise - and a surprise it was he has changed so much since I last saw him. Personality wise he hasn't, apart from being happier. But also now he has dyed his hair black, it's longer, and I FINALLY saw him with his sunglasses and beanie hat on!
Yesturday (saturday) I had a wonderful day with Andy. We simply spent time at his house talking, later on the evening we had dinner at mine then he left at 10.15pm....not bad....it was nice for the both of us. Most of the time we have spent in the past 4 weekends have been with other people (whether it's our families and/or friends of ours). I felt that we got closer yesturday (well I mean we're extremely close already) but my head has been clogged up with several thoughts, feelings amoungst other things - stuff that needed arranging and sorting out within my own head. Not just to do with relationships but with events and things that are happening in my life. Now it all seems clear, I'm not sure whether it's all part of growing up, being a teenager, developing into the woman I want to be, or whether it was just hormonal.
But I'm happier now.
Just a little annoyed that my friends and family are on Easter holiday, and I have to work. Don't get me wrong I love working and the money I get - but I wouldn't mind a break, but I guess it serves me right for chosing a contract that gets me paid more via the hour - but not granted holidays....oh well. At least my mum, brother and Andy are going to visit me for lunch at work this week.
Also I'm worried about me driving: my friend Geroge has passed (congratualtions again my dear!), as well as various other people who I happen to know...I haven't. I failed just because of a bloody reverse around a corner. From this failure: I've learnt that I don't complete my manoverves successfully enough times to be test rate. I mean I do a "reverse parking" correctly once - then 5 times afterwards I struggle for satisfaction.
My family, Andy and my instructor Tom are convinced I'm ready for my exam and that I should get it over and done with. But I still make many mistakes, I admit I had a lesson this morning, and since I was very frsutrated from not doing reverse parking correctly, I made many simple mistakes. I drove onto the kurb when turning left, forgot to signal one time, drove to fast at times and stayed in 2nd gear at times when I should've been in 3rd.
I want to be the best I can be when I take my test again - people may think I'm running away from it 'cos of fear of failing again. But I just so badly want to past this time. I was crushed before, I don't want to be afraid of failure when I get back in the seat next to the examiner...I want to face this with the knowledge that I have strengths in ALL aspects of driving...and I'll go in KNOWING and FEELING I can pass.
Sorry if I'm moany today - in next weeks episode......WRESTLING WITH TIGERS!!!! Tune in next week for Sarah's Chronicles! .............. March 24 Update!!!Hello there, I know it’s been 2 weeks since my last update – but feeling ill and other matters got the better of me.
Last weekend I went…well actually….TRIED to go shopping at Bluewater. I BADLY needed clothing. My boots give me blisters so I’m wearing trainers to work; and with cheap carpets I keep getting electric shocks (do you know how painful it is to get an electric shock FROM A PLANT right on your breast?! If frikkin’ hurts!), I wear the same 5 tops to work every week, my under-wear and socks have holes in them and I haven’t bought myself a game/manga/anime DVD in a while. AND I’m earning, so I thought I’d buy myself some things…..complete waste of time Bluewater was….
All the shops are selling t-shirts and vests, I was bloody cold last week so I wanted long sleeved tops…but all ranges of clothing are covered in pink and orange flowers…..yuck! No boots fit me, or looked good, I bought some underwear but I have to take the bras back since they don’t fit me, and I didn’t even buy any anime ‘cos I was too pissed of at the bloody place. I wanted to go to Camden this week but it looks like next week it’ll have to be.
For the past week I’ve been covering for my co-worker who’s currently on vacation, skiing in France. It’s been fun, would be much more if I wasn’t ill, most of the people around me are chucking lots of bugs at me so I was due to get sick eventually.
Anyways, enough moaning, how are you? You got anything planned this weekend? (You realised I AM actually interested but I’ll never be able to find out if you don’t comment on my msn space…..)
I have finally received my copy of BLOODRAYNE 2, I’ve only got up to the 2nd level but here are my thoughts if anyone is interested….
I found the game a bit strange at first, while loading you expect the game to introduce itself with a movie trailer/opening, especially since I have downloaded a few animated movies for it (one that was playing on this site if anyone remembers…) But alas there wasn’t one; it went straight to the menu. Which in itself was nicely presented, it also holds hope for little extras bits and unlockables that many game fans like to discover.
When starting the game I was a little disappointed at first in the graphics. In my opinion, in computer games, you have 3 types of graphics; 1. the standard graphics which are present in regular play 2. the animation graphics, the kind you see in cut scenes when characters are chatting away and exchanging information 3. the movie graphics, top-notch quality that is usually seen in trailers and important scenes within the game
The standard graphics (like when Rayne is battling and the scenery she’s walking around in) have improved since the last game – the game is much rich in style, flows much more easily and little details make it much more appreciated. Like if Rayne walks across a puddle of blood, while walking away you can still see her shoes leaving blood marks on the marble floor of the mansion in the first level.
The animation graphics I was VERY disappointed in; the scenes in between I think are treated poorly, when the characters talk their facing features move far too much for regular speaking patterns. Their mouths are all over the place! And the hair on Rayne – it looks all pixeled and in blocks, theirs no flow or definition in the individual hair strands – think of the hair you see on Cloud from Final Fantasy 7, PS1 version – and that’s what the graphics mind me of.
The movie graphics reach my high expectations, if you saw the trailer I had previously on this site and if you hope to see more of that within the game you won’t be disappointed.
The voices are acted well, the cocky one-liners that Bloodrayne is famous for are back, and the detail in the killings are just a wonderful as ever. Slice off as many body parts as you see fit as well as perform impressive acrobats, slow down time, increase your offensive and defensive powers and search for possible rooms with your sixth sense in all of Bloodrayne's new and wonderful powers! See Rayne wear her cool new gothic dress….which I soooooooooo badly want for myself!
The only other downside is the loading and saving of the game, the animated scenes are much shorter than the time it takes to save the game…but to me it’s worth it.
If you are a fan of the first Bloodrayne game, then you’ll love this too. If you like sexy half-human, half-vampire women wearing red and black corsets and gothic dresses, using long bladed weapons to slice a man’s body in half and guns to blow someone else’s head off….then you’ll probably like this too!
I have put a Bloodrayne image on my background of my myspace in celebration of it, I’ll be playing more of it this weekend, as well as seeing my boyfriend, going shoppong (NOT AGAIN!!) with mum and celebrating mother’s day….DON’T FORGET TO GET YOUR MOTHER SOMETHING! And..what the hell I'll paste the trailer once more on my site so I can get everyone into "Bloodrayne 2" mood! Enjoy! Have a good weekend!
This is me, over and out. xXx February 20 It's been one year...18th february.
For most people, it would mean nothing more than a date, to a few, it could mean a happy or a sorrowful time, whether it's their birthday or the passing of a loved one. To me, it means the anniversary of me and Andy. Its now been 1 year and 2 days since my expectations were surpassed, my dreams came true and that I proved myself wrong.
On saturday Andy and his family held birthday party, a con-joined 20th and 50th party for himself and her father: Gordon. It was a wonderful gathering of friends, family (including most members of the 500 Rawlings clan) and loved ones. Katy came with me, the DJ was extremely impressive: playing anything from Mudvayne to Britney Spears! The company/atmosphere was heart-warming. Andy liked his anniversary present (a solid silver frame engraved with "18th February" on the bottom, with a photo of the very first picture taken of me and Andy as a couple) and Katy had a good time, plus my father: Brian and step mum: Miranda came. They haven't met Andy and his family before so I had a wonderful weekend.
It was nice since the week previously: Andy had the mumps, so my first valentines day was scrapped. But I didn't mind. Andy's healthy and happy, that's all that matters to me.
The rest of it was spent with my good friend Katy, we lazied about on sunday and had a laugh (like it always is with her).
I feel a bit self-centred, well I don't update my space a smuch as I used to. So the entry I put in are revolved around me and my life (which is mainly work and boyfriend). I try to "review" things or write something different apart from an update of my life. I'll keep trying, don't get your hopes up though. I'm still trying to chance my music. I'll browse the net and find something....
I heard a quote last week in a magazine, it refers to men and women, leave a comment and tell me what you think;
With every 16 points a women's IQ increases, her chances of getting married are reduced by 45%
Have thoughts about this? You tell me. I'll give you my own opinion in my next entry. February 05 Wakey! Wakey!Oh dear, 2 weeks since my last update...
Man I'm tired: been working for long hours the past 2 weeks, especially thursday when I worked for 10 hours staright. We were filming the new pre-school show on GMTV2 called: "Wakey! Wakey!". Sure I was exshausted after the long day but the highlight of my day was when I saw my name on the script, saying "Production Assistant: Sarah Hughes", ok this probably doesn't mean much to you lot but I meant loads to moi!
The new show will start at 6am on GMTV2, with Kerry (also known as Cal from the Fun Song Factory) will be starting 11th March.
In gaming news: I have finally completed Chronicles of the Sword! Took me a while since work takes up most of my time, I'm now attempting to unlock the rest of the game-just to past the time till Kingdom Hearts 2 comes out anyways!
This weekend was the 1st time for 2 things:
1) I saw my first ballet: the Tim Burton classic of "Edward Scissorhands" which was extremely well done! I haven't seen the original movie but I was able to follow the storyline all the way through. The arena was nice, not cheap, but quite comfortable to be in. The stage was beautifully done, the dancers were brillant, pretrayed lots of emotion for the characters, and I got souvioners! A pen, a poster and a programme. It was part of the 1-year-anniversary present from Andy so I had a great time.
2) I spent the night at Andy's house: it was amazing, i slept in his bed and he slept downstairs on the floor (poor thing) but when he got up he came into my room and we snuggled up together! It was lovely and affectionate, plus he stayed with me till I feel asleep the night before. The I went to Camden with Katy and Amanda a few hours afterwards: I've had a great weekend!
The previous weekend wasn't too shabby either: can't remember most of it but it went good.
My last few entries have been a bit centimentasl recently. In my next entry, I'm going to review something, not sure what, but something (I seem to get more comments when I do so!) and I'll change the music too!
Sayonara!
